Patterson Quits...

Yeah, the governor personally intervening in allegations of domestic abuse by his top aide and using the state police to pressure the woman to drop the case generally aren't good ideas.

He's a dumbass.

Another D Governor is quitting, won't run for re-election.

As opposed to maybe some others who dropped out because they didn't think they could win he wanted to run but did himself in with his response to the woman who claimed his boy harassed or assulted her.

Im not sure why, but the WH has wanted him out for a long time. I belive he is just not running for reelection.

It may be that they want to make room for Mario Cuomo.

I dont, but Ill look for one. I saw it on television or read it somewhere....

Amazing...the democrats elect a deaf and dumb President and a blind Governor....

At least they're consistent....

Patterson was Lt. Governor and stepped in when Spitzer, that arrogant hypocritical bastard, cheated on his wife and went down in flames. :clink:

Obama got what he wanted:

- In a stunning request, the Obama administration has made it clear to poll-challenged Gov. Paterson that the White House would prefer he not seek election to a full four-year term next year.

The Obama administration sent the message through White House political affairs director Patrick Gaspard, who met with the governor at his campaign headquarters for nearly two hours last Monday, according to a source with knowledge of the conversation.

Is he quitting or just not running for election?
Both. Choosing not to run for re-election. Basically giving his notice. He's quitting. Like Ritter... Only he doesn't have the "for my family" excuse. (Almost laughable for Ritter, during the previous election he was proud that he spent 16 hours a day in the DA's office.)
