That may not rise to the level of the legal definition of censorship—but in practical terms it is what it is. And it gets worse: they engaged in literal propaganda by calling the story “Russian disinformation” which turned out to be an utter fabrication. They did this on purpose—they knew exactly what they were doing. The only reason they did it was because they knew they would get away with it.

And they did. Arcane tech work arounds and technical legal arguments aside, the practical result of this is half the country only gets to hear half the story or an ‘approved version’ of it. In short, they have become lemmings.

And this has become pervasive across all social media. When I open up FB I get told what to think ‘about the election’. Select facts are labeled ‘disputed’ as if 95% of ‘facts’ can’t be disputed. It’s straight out of Orwell and our democracy won’t survive it for long.

1. There is something that can be done...don't log in anymore.

2. I read your wall of text and to me it boils down to one salient point: Most people are too dumb or too stupid to do any research on their own so big tech needs to tell them what you think they should see in order for the world to be fair. Did I misinterpret you? If I'm right then you are very confused.

Darth Opie is often confused.

It's always been a challenge on text forums to determine the quality of personality behind the username. Were they born stupid? Normal but ignorant? Mentally ill. A few of our furthest RWers appear to be elderly and suffering from age related mental issues, usually paranoia. A few are just flatout mentally ill.

IMO, Opie appears to have a few kinks in his hose.

In a nutshell (according to him and others), the bigger the platform (Twitter, Farcebook and such), the lesser freedom they should have in moderating speeches.

There's lower than average IQ and then there's mental illness. Differences of opinion are common, but when a person's grip on reality is less than normal, that's mental illness. Like IQ, mental stability comes in degrees and varies across the human spectrum.

Ted Kaczynski was both a genius and highly mentally unstable.

:thinking: Misguided indicates the ability to be properly guided. Not everyone can do so because they are incapable for whatever reason. It's not simply a matter of intelligence but also their ability to perceive and process information.

We can all be a bit wacky at times. Too emotional, lose our cool, overcome with grief or other emotions. Like a boat tipping in high seas, as long as they right themselves, that's fine. That's normal. The people who capsize are unstable. They can't recover. They might be able to do so with help but some can't ever be fully righted. Steven is an example of this and I suspect INT and #10 are also. All I can tell is if they are listing too much and too consistently, not whether they can be helped to fully recover.

It's not rocket science to spot people who are "off" or "eccentric". Those are people who don't fit the norm. There's nothing illegal in being mentally ill. It's only when they get crimes that the option of treatment or prison comes up. Some states allow relatives to commit mentally ill family members but, AKFAIK, all require 48-72 hours as a limit for evaluation by medical personnel. The key factor is whether they are a danger to themselves or others.
