House Republican Calls Nationwide Abortion Ban Vote ‘Staggering Stupidity’

By Josh Israel on Jun 13, 2013 at 2:05 pm

Republican pushed a bill to criminalize abortions after 20 weeks through the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, sending the measure on to the full House. But not all members of the majority are cheering the move.

Rep. Charlie Dent (R-PA) told CQ Roll Call that the plan to rush the bill through next week is a stunning distraction from more important issues.

“I’ll be very frank: I discouraged our leadership from bringing this to a vote on the floor,” he observed. “Clearly the economy is on everyone’s minds, we’re seeing very stagnant job numbers, confidence in the institution of government is eroding and now we’re going to have a debate on rape and abortion… The stupidity is simply staggering.”

It's like they sit around thinking of bills nobody wants to give the impression they're working and/or give a shit.

Look, schmucks. You bitched for years that the Senate never passed a budget. They have. Work on it. You've bitched for years about jobs. There's a bill. Work on it.

Less people working, means more people having sex in their spare time. More sex, equals more unwanted pregnancies. Wanna stop abortion? Pass a jobs bill.

Less people working means more tension at home which means less sex.

Do any of you pinheads ever get your news from relatively normal sources ?

Thinkprogresss and msnbc and motherjones and mediamatters, etc.....don't you recognize bullshit when you read it ?
are you suggesting that representative Dent was misquoted, or that he is not a republican? What about that quote is "bullshit" other than the fact that it shows dissension in your party's ranks?

Now hold on a second there.......lets not get carried away.....I can work full time and have plenty of sex in my off hours you know?

This is where your stupidity shines through, Mr Breitbart quoter.

TP is quoting Congressional Quarterly, hardly a left wing shill. Which is worlds different than your sources, who regularly quote each other- otherwise known as The Circle Jerk of Attribution.©

And you wonder why we groan you.

He'll never get it. Bravo makes suicidal squirrels dashing across the street look smart.

Says fox's white trash demographic exactly!
Well maybe not the navy reject part.

Yes. Dents comment was mis-characterized....
He was speaking about the economy being on everyone’s mind
the stagnant job numbers, and lack of confidence in the institution of government, etc.
thus, the subject of abortion is a distraction to these more pressing and important matters.....

the distraction is what is stupid....not the content of the bill as the article implies.

You may have inferred something different than I did. I think that the article implies the stupidity of the distraction. Passing a bill about abortion when everyone knows it will die in the senate, when the people want congress to focus on the economy IS stupid. Our news sources don't claim it's any more stupid than you do.

What did Breitbart say about it, by the way? My guess is, that they never brought it up.
