once more lobyists demonstrate their power

Well, kids prefer that to "healthy food" no matter what their parents say, plus its probably cheaper, let the little guys fend for themselves, bring their own lunches from home if they're so worried

this only applies to subsidized school lunches that taxpayers pay for...like you

do you support lunches that generate obese children?

the people lobbying for the amendment are the growers of potatoes and makers of frozen pizzas

I support choices. I really don't care if 'unhealthy' options are removed from schools, I only want to illustrate that lobbyists are responsible for both ends of the spectrum, and everything in between.

i am curious, do you consider children to be able to make decisions as good as adults

besides, lobbyists are good if they are my lobbyists and bad if they are someone else's lobbyists...:)

I don't care honestly. If I'm that worried about my the one meal a day my child gets at school, I'll pack it for them.

As far as cost, generally cheap food is bad for you. It's high in fat or sodium (or both) so they can be preserved.

since this only applies to federally subsidized school lunches and the change is promulgated by the usda, then of course congress can interfere...:(

Congress shouldn't be subsidizing lunches in the first place. Again, that's the jurisdiction of the states. And the the USDA shouldn't be involved at this level either.

like frozen pizzas and frozen french fries

for some kids, the only semi-decent meal they get is their free school lunch

i am a firm advocate for education and think that schools should be open from 5 AM to 7 PM and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to those in need
