Keith Olbermann, the former host of “Countdown” on the news channel MSNBC, will announce his next television home on Tuesday, and people familiar with his plans pointed Monday to a possible deal with the public affairs channel Current TV.

Neither Mr. Olbermann, his representatives, or executives from Current TV would comment on the move, but they did not deny that the channel, which counts former Vice President Al Gore as one of its founders, will become at least one partner in Mr. Olbermann’s future media plans.

One of the people with knowledge of the plans said Mr. Olbermann would have an equity stake in Current TV.

The people insisted on anonymity because they were not authorized by their employers to comment in advance of the official announcement.

On Monday a public relations agency hired by Mr. Olbermann scheduled a Tuesday morning conference call for an announcement about his next job. “He and his new partners will make an exciting announcement regarding the next chapter in his remarkable career,” the agency wrote in an e-mail.

I heard Ray McGovern, a retired CIA agent whose expertise was the old Soviet Union and the Eastern Bloc countries say the propaganda coming out of Fox News is at the same level as Pravda. But I suspect most Russians knew Pravda was propaganda.

Olbermann signed with the NY Yankees. He'll be competing with Freddy Garcia and Bartolo Colon for the 5th Starter's job.

Pitchers and catchers report in 8 days...:nodyes:

i thought his contract said he couldn't host another tv show for a certain time period...maybe it was just speculated that he had such a clause

if there is no clause, its interesting that apparently only current tv wants him :)

How do you know only current TV wants him?:) Maybe it is a great move for him, more money, more creative license, where did you get it that this was his only option? Looks like he is going to be Gore's main man! I say it was a win/win for both of them!:good4u:

i don't know, thats why i said apparently...given he went to a no name channel its likely no one else wanted him

Nope, Gore and his partner saw a good deal to increase viewers and Olbermann saw an opportunity to do some things he has been wanting to do with no holds barred.

It is a good deal for both of them.

more likely MSNBC does not consider Current's programming as a TV show under the definition of the contract.....

not to mention a win for Rana.....now she can have her own private viewing of Olbermann and keep us all informed as to what he says.....

Might be a good deal for Olbie... not for Gore... He has put too much stock in Global Warming, and now with this giant bag of hot air working for him, I guess that's over. Poor Al!

Global Warming is the solution to all the worlds problems.
1 Energy security/national security. Renewable energy (Solar panals, Wind, Geothermal) As well as electric cars are essential for our national security. We need to become independant on foreign energy sources. Cut back on money flowing to terrorists.
2 Peak oil/ natural resources. Theirs only so much oil, coal, natural gas in the world demand is greatly rising for these things and the supplies are limited.
3 Oil and Coal create Acid rain and the gases are unhealthy to breath.
4 Planting more trees is all ways a good thing.
5 A global carbon tax increases the power of the U.N which increases the power of the E.U.
6 Population control freaks love it. Population control prevents global warming it takes people to polute. China can argue one child policy has done more to prevent global warming then any other policy. 400 million fewer, more then the combined populations of U.S, canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Population control/ family planning can argue that they save the world.
7 Scientists can get research grants.
8 U.S is the bad guy.

Sooo... Olbermann has gone from one of the lowest rated cable news networks to Current TV, a network that no one watches and most don't even know they get...

Good decision...
