General criticisms[edit]

Mainstream economists have argued that Austrians are often averse to the use of mathematics and statistics in economics.[80]

Economist Bryan Caplan argues that many Austrians have not understood valid contributions of modern mainstream economics, causing them to overstate their differences with it. For example, Murray Rothbard stated that he objected to the use of cardinal utility in microeconomic theory; however, mainstream microeconomic theorists go to great pains to show that their results are derived for any monotonic transformation of an ordinal utility function, and do not entail cardinal utility.[21][81] The result is that conclusions about utility preferences hold no matter what values are assigned to them

These are not your words. Caplan is a libertarian that once labeled his views Austrian. And again, all he is saying is that Rothbard overstated his divergence from mainstream economist because cardinal utility is not, generally, used. It's not really much of a criticism of Austrian economics.

like what?

Hayak and Friedman won Nobel Prizes in economics yet you claim they ride the short bus. Who are our best experts?

Friedman would not be an Austrian. Desh has been frothing at the mouth about libertarians and conflating them with Austrians, but they are not at all synonymous.

I preface this by saying I am far from an expert on economics so I'm not speaking here from a position of thinking I know it all. That said I can translate Desh's position here for you Prof. She equates Austrian economics with Republican economic policies. She won't come out and say that of course but it's the biggest reason she can't articulate herself what Austrian economics actually is in and of itself and her issues with it.

San Bernadino's population is growing and jobs are growing even faster. They have 6 of the nations 50 fastest growing cities and the "Inland Empire" is expected to grow faster than every state except Florida, Texas and, of course, California.

Like I said, this tent city is not a great thing, but it is not indicative of some catastrophic economic event. I think it is a pretty good idea to concentrate them until a shelter can be constructed. Spread em out and they are harder to help.

This video is propaganda and pure bs.
