ObamaFAIL

the ultimate plan is to eliminate the middle class. there can be only two classes in a socialist nation. that of the rulers and then the rest of us.

Oh NO!

A $10 a barrel tax would raise the cost of oil back up to where it was in the middle of January...$38.00 a barrel.

Ouch!

1) and when oil goes back to $100?

2) It is still a tax that is regressive. It hits the lower and middle income families a lot harder than the rich. But because a Democrat did it... you are good with that?

to loyal democrats, they are ok with that. it goes along with their plan of eliminating the middle class so EVERYONE is poor.....except for their leaders that is. it's all about everyone being equal....equally miserable.

Wow, that is some serious fail. Even most dems won't go for it. Now that he is a lame duck he has no shame in showing just how utterly incompetent he is when it comes to the economy.

How can you support such a massive tax hike that will hurt mostly low income families, most of the middle class and small business that rely on transportation for their business? It is at least a 25 cent tax per gallon, no matter how much a barrel cost. You show that you are as ignorant as Obama when it comes to the economy.

This will not result in a direct increase in the cost of gas. I've watched when taxes go up, the price of gas does not increase one for one.

A large part of the price of gas is based on what they can get the consumer to pay... Not the actual cost, supply or demand. This is why there is a lag when the price per barrel goes down, but not when it goes up. The effect, for the most part would be less profit for these oil companies, and they make HUGE profits so...

Are those taxes directly related to oil? I have never seen what you claim. Each and every time there is a new tax on gas, oil etc., there is a corresponding increase in prices at the pump. If you think the oil companies are going to absorb this tax without passing it on to the consumer, you sir, are naive in the extreme. Also, why did demand for oil continue to surge when prices were over $4/gallon? And when gas prices are high, guess what, the consumer who drives to work MUST pay the price.

Pretty much everything you just said does not exist in reality.

And when the price of oil reaches $100.00 a barrel, we can repeal the tax.

You fools are so nieve to think they don't play with the margin? Really? You are dumb.

When has a tax like this been repealed?
very soon the horse and buggy whip tax - on the buggy whip - may get repealed :)

So all the fracking that's gone on in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia flooding the market with oil has nothing to do with today's lower prices, consumers just aren't wiling to pay more today so gas station owners are forced to lower prices? And we're dumb?

in mass transit, high-speed rail, self-driving cars, and other transportation approaches designed to reduce carbon emissions and congestion
with all the talk we hear about infrastructure, Obama would use the tax money for this?
How about fixing falling down bridges and basic improvements?

He is such an ideological putz

LMAO... yeah... so easy to say...

But again... ANY tax, whether oil is at $30 or $130... comes from the pockets of the consumers. IT IS REGRESSIVE. IT HURTS THE POOR AND MIDDLE INCOME FAMILIES MORE.

Garud is an idiot. The price of gas is predominantly driven by the supply/demand equation and the value of the dollar. Add in any taxes by the government and you are going to have a pretty good idea of pricing.
