goes on oprah winfrey and is attending fundraisers

:palm:

Webbway beat you to it. But don't worry - you're in good company.

Still having a bad day, eh? Thought you might have recovered by now....

I always know that you lost before you start when the first post in answer is you talking about somebody else in an attempt at ad hom.

Was it important to go on Oprah? Is that what Obama was talking about? Taking coin from $30,000 per plate "fundraiser" dinners?

If that is what Obama believes is important, then I need a President with more perspective.

You know what Obama was saying.

Can a President win re-election if he doesn't fundraise?

A simple yes or no will do on that. Your ODS has the best of you.

Right... Now who is going all emotive?

A President can certainly choose to fund raise on maybe the day AFTER talking about how he needs to deal with the important issues of the day. I know that if I made such a statement the first thing I did following would not be frivolous and unnecessary.

The only thing that would have made it funnier would be if he left to play golf or to bowl all "special olympics-like"...

;)

I was hardly emotive; that must have hit a nerve before.

Fundraising is important to any President. You said you'd like a President w/ more perspective; let me know when you find the guy who doesn't care about getting re-elected.....

I volunteer. I only need a single term.

It sure seemed emotive. A knee-jerk silliness. The "important" business of the nation is talk-shows and underlines the coin-operated nature of our government. I'm good with that. Let me know when advice such as avoiding frivolities after taking the pulpit to speak about how you must handle "important business" is bad advice and then get back to me. I think it is funny, and smells just a little of hypocrisy.

I think you should try some new ad hom attack and then try to apologize some more for Fearless Leader.

Truth be told, I'd prefer politicians - at most levels - who weren't always in re-election mode. But that's our system.

There are generally policies - particularly on the economy - that are better to take for the long-run, but are more painful in the short-run, that politicians ignore because it won't help them in the next election. It's a major flaw...

It's silliness to suggest that fundraising is important to a President?

I didn't realize that we're apparently not posting on the same planet. Aside from that, as I said initially, you know what Obama was saying.

It's just your ODS & all...

wow....a bad day for dems when they're party leader talks about how americans must focus on whats important and that he needs to focus on more important matters like the economy and jobs....and then he goes on oprah and attends lavish fund raisers immediately following that speech

seriously.....that's funny

It's silliness to suggest that it is the same thing as important to the nation. Yeah, I think that going immediately into fund raising takes away from the power of the whole "getting back to the important national business" lecture. And were an an Adviser, I would have told him to avoid frivolity, or making it seem that what was "important" to the President was opening the government to more coin-operated power players after trying to lecture others about frivolity.

Fundraising is important to any President.

precisely.....now, if we only had a president who was concerned about what's important to the country instead of to himself.....for example, why did the Congress his party controlled fail to come up with a budget for 2011?.....was he prevented from dealing with that because of the birthers?.....
