How many threads did you start on this subject today Jarod? 3,000?
"But let me be clear. As a citizen, and as President, I believe that Muslims have the same right to practice their religion as everyone else in this country. And that includes the right to build a place of worship and a community center on private property in Lower Manhattan, in accordance with local laws and ordinances."
He doesn't say he wants the mosque built someplace else, does he? He doesn't say he thinks it's not wise to build the mosque at this site, does he? He doesn't say he thinks it's insensitive or distasteful to build the mosque in Lower Manhattan, does he? He isn't suggesting we do everything we can legally do to discourage the mosque from being built there, does he? NOPE... he doesn't! And therein lies the problem! You are trying to spin a lie about what he said, how he said it, what he meant, and what his intentions were, and it's just not flying this time. Sorry!
So saying someone has a right to do something is the same as saying they should?
At least you are finally admiting he did not encourage or cheerlead it.
BULLSHIT!
LOL the idiot Jarod got owned.
What a tard
How so? You cant win arguments simply by declaring victory!
See, in the example you provided, I explained why I felt I won the point, I did not simply declare victory...
But you are an illiterate idiot who thinks he is a political hack. Why do you think this is such a big story, dimwit? Obama could not have been any clearer, he said what he said, and even prefaced it with "let me make this clear!"
There has never been any dispute from anyone, that the Muslims didn't have the constitutional or legal right to build their mosque. The issue has always been, whether it was appropriate for them to do so in this location. So, either Obama was endorsing the building of the mosque at ground zero, or he is as much of an incompetent idiot as you seem to be on this. Is that what you're telling us? That Obama is just plain stupid, like you?

You don't disagree with what Obama said... Do you?
So, Republicans are "feeling" now, I thought that was strictly a icky liberal thing!Has anyone yet disputed their "right" to build the mosque? If so, please post their quote! No one with a brain, in the entire nation, believes they don't have the "right" to build it! THAT is not, nor ever has been, the ARGUMENT! To presume that was all the president was saying, is stupid beyond recognition.
What the president failed to do, was continue on with his comments, and speak out about how it was insensitive to build the mosque at this location. People are claiming his comment was "courageous" but it really wasn't. He was speaking to Muslims, they were very receptive of what he said. It took NO courage to say it to them. What would have been a display of courage, would have been to use the opportunity to call on the Muslim community to do the right thing, and find another place for the mosque. But Obama believes, they have the right to build it there, and they should.

We'd like him to state if he thinks it should be built, not "hem and haw" about legalities. Does he think it is a wise choice? The right choice? His cowardice causes the controversy, what he doesn't say is the catalyst. So In short you don't disagree with the words the president said?
I agree with your assessment as to why Obama has caused controversy rather than solved it...Hate to say it, but Obama has been a wuss on this. He has waffled & weaved, and come out looking like a typical politician.
Aside from Scarborough & a few posters on this board, I have been disgusted with pretty much everyone on this issue. What an eye opener, especially on this board. I know what to expect of the Dixie's, but I've been surprised at the thoughts of some of the more reasonable posters here with regard to the mosque & Muslims in general....
