Obama: government health care not good idea

The trouble is that the USPS has no death panels. If the post office could just kill off undesirable communities instead of spending shitloads of money providing postal service to far flung sparsely populated locales it could compete more effectively. FEDEx and UPS don't have to deliver to Edna Bay, Alaska but I'm sure they will if you want to pay for it. The USPS on the other hand has to deliver my mail there for a measly first class stamp.
True, it needs death panels, so it can execute the leaders who do not have foresight. And BTW, while it does deliver mail there, it does not do it with their own planes. They simply add the mail onto one of the planes or trucks (see Ice Road Truckers) that are going there. They do get charged but it isn't at a premium, mail doesn't weigh that much and it really doesn't cost all that much to add it onto a load that is already going there.

LOL Like a monkey on a keyboard you've randomly typed something that makes sense.

All this talk about government not being able to run health care or health insurance or how the cost will be prohibitive is nonsense. Dozens of countries do it. Virtually every industrialized nation has a universal health plan and not one single country has scrapped their plan and returned to a "pay or suffer" system. Not one.

Sure, the citizens in almost very country bitch and whine about some aspect of it but closer examination shows there is not a political movement in any country to rescind the plan.

Even with all the supposed doom and gloom about cost and inefficiency there is not one single country where the citizens want the program scrapped. Not one country.

What more has to be said? What else has to be shown? What is it that people don't understand? The evidence is there. The citizens in every country that has implemented a universal plan want to keep it.

Do people believe that out of all the industrialized nations the US government is the only government that couldn't run a plan?

And every country that has it has a shitty system. What do they call someone who does the same thing over and over yet expects a different outcome?

Damo - Are you claiming that the costs associated with the USPS serving remote communities isn't significant and does not affect the financial condition of the USPS? Because that's what it sounds like and that's just plain stupid.

Not to the level that you are stating. They aren't failing because they drop some mail onto a truck headed to Prudhoe Bay. It effects the cost, but it is not the reason for their failure. They were very successful previous years, even while delivering mail to the same localities.

The reality is less mail is being delivered while in large city areas they still need the same amount of delivery people to get the mail delivered to the boxes. Prudhoe Bay doesn't have this issue, people collect their mail from a central location.

It takes the same amount of delivery personnel to deliver much less mail for which they get less money. The larger locations are what are killing them now, not Prudhoe.

Can I get a summary of what is on the video?

Edit: And I'd note that I don't recall Obama every supporting government run healthcare. He has said he supports single-payer, but that is government run health insurance not government run healthcare.

honestly i am not to sure he doesn't want gov run h/c....in fact the bill is described on the first page as:

To provide affordable, quality health care for all Americans and reduce
the growth in health care spending, and for other purposes.

basic summary:

Obama was trying to calm concerns that the government program was meant to eliminate private health-care companies. After pointing out that UPS and FedEx are effectively competing with the USPS Obama added, “It's the post office that's always having problems”.
