Obviously his positions changed over time as he decided to go down the route that was most politically pragmatic. There's nothing wrong with that. Obama has drifted to the right over the years, if not in his heart, just to get stuff done. Sometimes you have to realpolitik. If Obama had come out guns a-blazin proposing single-payer healthcare, he would've gotten absolutely nowhere. So he proposed a compromise system that had most of the positives of single-payer but addressed the (illegitimate) concerns of the right.

Bull-pucky. He talked bout how it can't be done all in one shot, how it would have to be done over time...

It's incrementalism, exactly what Onceler speaks about here on this board. He didn't change plans, he simply began implementing them.

There are countries that have a single payer system (universal medical) and still utilize private "enterprises". Canada is one of them.

For example, blood tests. When a doctor orders blood tests one can get them done for free at a government clinic. Take a number and wait, maybe an hour or so, for the blood draw. Or one can go to a private clinic and be finished in 10 or 15 minutes and be down approximately $100.00 to $125.00.

If one is earning over $100/hr which is about $200,000/yr then it probably is beneficial for them to pay for the blood draw as they'll lose more money waiting at the government clinic than if they paid at a private one and returned to work.

I don't see what all the fuss is about.

ummmm, apple, the point was not that some countries have single payer systems.

Oh for crikey sakes! You don't even believe this steaming pile of bullshit!

The only thing he's leaning towards is a way to effect it the best possible way, while acquiescing it will not happen as soon as he wants it to.

You can stick a feather in its hat and call it macaroni, but it's his agenda he's been proselytizing about since he could get his chin up to the mike.

Because apple likes the idea Big Daddy taking care of him in his waning years.

hmmm, the campaign of 'i'll give you all you want', followed by the term actions of 'we can't really do this, but I didn't want to lie to you'.
I can see how that works. they fool both liberals and republicans. mighty fine politicians you all have there. :pke:
