NRA continues to prove they are not safe, responsible gun owners

I remain a member of the NRA because they have a louder voice than I do in DC. As long as they keep promoting the right things I will keep sending them my yearly dues.

Right.....so paying off congressmen to vote AGAINST the wishes of the majority of the people (AND NRA members) on gun control is okay by you....victims of guns formerly banned non-withstanding.

Easy solution: Don’t join the NRA and Don vote for the candidates they support. This is the USA after all.

Once again, the NRA is the best argument against gun ownership. They once again lack even the most basic common sense of gun safety.

Super corrupt South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says she has given her two year old grandchild several guns... Because in a country where guns are the leading cause of child deaths, that makes a lot of sense.

You seriously believe she's letting a two year old play with a loaded gun? An unloaded gun?

More likely she's just being political, like "I didn't inhale". :)

During her remarks, Noem spoke about her grandchildren: Addie, who is almost two, and Branch, who is a few months old. Noem then said that Addie already had a shotgun and a rifle.

“Now Addie, who you know – soon will need them, I wanna reassure you, she already has a shotgun and she already has a rifle and she’s got a little pony named Sparkles too. So the girl is set up,” said Noem.

There are two questions we have to ask: how hard is this family trying to keep guns out of the hands of children? and what age will they give a gun to these children?

My guess given they are giving ownership of guns to a two years old is that they are not trying hard to keep guns out of the hands of children, and will give guns to children at a very young age.

You're doing a deep dive into very shallow politics. Jus' sayin'.

https://giffords.org/lawcenter/state-laws/minimum-age-to-purchase-possess-in-south-dakota/
South Dakota law prohibits any person under age 18 from knowingly possessing a handgun.1 This prohibition does not apply if the minor has the prior written consent of the minor’s parent or guardian to possess a handgun and:

  • Is on premises owned or leased by the minor or his or her parent, guardian or immediate family member;
  • Is in the presence of a licensed or accredited gun safety instructor; or
  • Is using the handgun for farming, ranching, hunting, trapping, target shooting or gun safety instruction.2
  • There is no minimum age to possess rifles and shotguns in South Dakota. South Dakota only prohibits transfer of a firearm or ammunition to a minor if the seller knows or reasonably believes that the minor intended, at the time of transfer, to use the firearm or ammunition in the commission or attempted commission of a crime of violence.3

Once upon a time the NRA was a good org and had good programs, then in the 1990's the were taken down the kook path

even the execs there knew it

NPR has obtained more than 2 1/2 hours of recordings of those private meetings after the Columbine shooting, which offer unique insight into the NRA's deliberations in the wake of this crisis — and how it has struggled to develop what has become its standard response to school shootings ever since.

In addition to mapping out their national strategy, NRA leaders can also be heard describing the organization's more activist members in surprisingly harsh terms, deriding them as "hillbillies" and "fruitcakes" who might go off script after Columbine and embarrass them.

Says Hammer: "If you pull down the exhibit hall, that's not going to leave anything for the media except the members meeting, and you're going to have the wackos ... with all kinds of crazy resolutions, with all kinds of, of dressing like a bunch of hillbillies and idiots. And, and it's gonna, it's gonna be the worst thing you can imagine."

No other first world country has a major problem with guns killing children, in America it is the number one killer of children.... Jus' sayin' we are doing something wrong.

That's a disgusting, pandering comment. Gun owners should be offended, quite honestly - all it says to America is that they're not serious about treating guns safely and like the devastating weapons they can be.

They're not friggin' toys. Embarrassing.

How many other countries threw out their king?

Look at the Down Under dumbasses, Thai sex workers and Canucks on this forum on this forum who still bend the knee for royalty. Look at the Japanese, who still have an Emperor. What other countries threw off their own yokes of oppression besides the United States?

A wise man once taught me, "if you want to understand a country, study their history and geography".

How many other countries threw out their king?

Iceland, Ireland, Portugal, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Greece, hungary, Poland, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania... I am getting bored, suffices to say there still are a lot of royals out there, but there are more countries that threw out their royals.

Somehow, they are able to keep guns away from toddlers in all these countries.

All were assisted. :)

Royals giving up on their own is not the same as being forced out.

Note that France and Russia lapsed back into dictatorships just like Germany.

Ireland drove off the English a lot more recently than we did, and in fact were fighting on the northern part of the island as recently as 25 years ago. France actually killed their king, unlike us.

By other "first world country", Walt means "WHITE" countries. :palm:

Typical Democrat. Some things never change. :palm:

It's fucking South Dakota, not civilization, so let them cap one another's asses off to their hearts' content.

When we start giving two year olds guns in Massachusetts,
then its a problem,
but somehow, it doesn't seem like an imminent problem..
