NOW Blasts Letterman

It is funny to me that Clinton haters can, almost 20 years after the fact, draw out stuff like this [list of "alleged affairs"] at the drop of a hat. I never voted for the man but I sure don't view him with such disdain and hate that seems to be the case with some folks.

Back to the Letterman thing....I agree with Thorn above. I think that both sides need to be looked at before jumping into the judgment seat.
Word up LR. I never voted for Clinton either. So the man liked pussy BFD. Last I checked most men do.

Ever hear the joke that 9 out of 10 men that tried camels prefered women?

Bravo must be one of the 1 in 10 that liked the camel! LOL

It's not verbal harassment. This was an unwanted touching. And I think that's a very serious allegation against the President, along with the allegations of covering that up.''

Alamo-girl, huh? Well, I'm impressed. Guess she got this list from "Curtis Lowe, San Antonio, TX" -- or vice versa. Too bad you couldn't find anything more credible than a list of names posted by right wing bloggers.

Duh. The point is that posting a bunch of names, many with no other information except the fact that they're listed on right wing blogs, makes the list worthless for those who want to actually research the allegations... idiot.

Well I apologize for asking a freaking question. I guess that makes me a misogynist. I've been called much worse though. How's this for misogyny, FUCK NOW. All it is is a political group not a pro women's group.

Apparently the irony of this thread was lost on you. First, NOW did come out and criticize Clinton over his behaviour, although some of the posters want to say otherwise.

Second, NOW was organized over 40 years ago and has often been in the forefront of getting women the same rights men have but which they couldn't expect before, or defending them from gender bias in the workplace. Some conservative women who trash NOW should consider their circumstances and examine whether they have it better or worse today than their mothers did in the past. You don't have to take my word for it; look at the historical record.

Third, somebody posted a list of "victims" who were "exploited" by Clinton. What happened to the RW mantra of personal responsibility? These women wereall consenting adults and were not forced into any kind of sexual situation with him. Some of the names are only found on RW blogs so what way is there to verify the claim that they were raped or harassed? Some of the women listed had "unwelcome sexual advances" printed after their name. What woman on earth has not dealt with unwelcome sexual advances at some point, either at school, work or during social situations? Twenty-seven of the women on bravo's list... twenty-seven... are only "rumored" to have had sex with Clinton. Talk about slinging mud and hoping that some of it sticks. The only purpose for articles like this is to stir up crap, and the hell with the facts.

Finally, you wrote "FUCK NOW, all they are is a political group." Well, duh. That's their purpose, to confront discrimination and work to eliminate it. As an example, NOW worked hard to get the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act passed. Do you think this is only going to benefit liberal women?

Some of the snarky comments here about NOW members are ridiculous and spiteful, but it especially galls me when they come from women. NOW has done a lot toward raising consciousness about women's rights but if these Schlafly-esque dinosaurs would prefer to return to the days of getting the boss's coffee, doing the boss's personal errands, listening to his suggestive comments and fending off touchy-feely, they can do it with my blessing but don't expect liberal women to accept that treatment.

I've worked with plenty of smart, talented, driven and very successful women in my career so far. I have nothing but respect for those women, especially one's who do it while having to have children. And I'm biased but I come from a family of strong women including my mom who could be CEO of a Fortune 1000 is she so chose.

But I could give two shits about NOW and its politically liberal agenda. F*ck them. They may have done good work in the past for women's rights in the past but now they are just another interest group fighting to be relevent.

And if all these woman with Clinton did it on their own accord and he did nothing but accept their advances then why did NOW come out against them? Why are they coming out against Letterman? Because some women come on to him and want his fame and mony its Letterman's fault? How many women come on to pro athletes and entertainers hoping to be a 'baby's mama'? Why doesn't NOW address those scandalous ho's?

One reason NOW may not have come out against some of these women is that their credibility was lacking:

Juanita Broaddrick

"The previous year, Broaddrick had filed a sworn affidavit with Paula Jones' lawyers denying that Clinton had ever assaulted her: "During the 1992 Presidential campaign there were unfounded rumors and stories circulated that Mr. Clinton had made unwelcome sexual advances toward me in the late seventies. ... These allegations are untrue ...."[1]

In November 1998, Broaddrick contradicted her sworn statement in an interview with "Dateline NBC".[2][3] The interview, broadcast in February 1999, centered around Broaddrick's accusation that Clinton had raped her on April 25, 1978 during his first campaign for the governorship of the U.S. state of Arkansas, at a time when Clinton was that state's Attorney General

Elizabeth Gracen

In 1992, rumors swirled that Gracen had an affair with Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton.[3] At first, Gracen dismissed this claim. In 1998, however, Gracen rebutted her denial and stated she had a one night stand with Clinton in 1982.[4] After claiming this, Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr, who was investigating Clinton in the Paula Jones lawsuit, issued a subpeona to have her testify her claim in court.[5] Gracen, however, refused to testify[5] and was able to dodge the subpeona by filming Highlander: The Raven. overseas.[6]

Cristy Zercher
A former flight attendant on Bill Clinton's 1991-92 campaign plane claims in a paid interview with a supermarket tabloid that Clinton fondled her on the jet while his wife slept a few feet away...
...Zercher said the groping went on for about 40 minutes before a jealous flight attendant, Debra Schiff, told Clinton, "I really think you'd be more comfortable in your chair," and he left.

Kathleen Willey

According to Tripp, [Kathleen]Willey had arranged the meeting in part to see if her flirtation with Clinton might advance. After Clinton and Willey met privately, Willey rushed back to Tripp’s office to describe the meeting. According to Tripp, Willey “smiled from ear to ear the entire time” as she described the event. “She seemed almost shocked, but happy-shocked,” Tripp told the grand jury. Willey told Tripp that she and Clinton had "smooched," but made no mention of a sexual assault...
The Final Report of the U.S. Office of the Independent Counsel report noted that "Willey gave false information to the FBI about her sexual relationship with a former boyfriend, and acknowledged having lied about it when the agents confronted her with contradictory evidence. Following Willey’s acknowledgment of the lie, the Independent Counsel agreed not to prosecute her for false statements in this regard."[3] According to Independent Counsel Robert Ray’s report, "Willey’s [Paula] Jones deposition testimony differed from her grand jury testimony on material aspects of the alleged incident.
Willey has a history of controversial claims including telling the FBI she was pregnant and she had a miscarriage when she did not.

Some of the affairs were consensual.

In 1994, [Sally]Perdue stated that she had had an affair with then-governor Bill Clinton of Arkansas in 1983..

Gennifer Flowers came forward during Bill Clinton's 1992 Presidential election campaign alleging that she had had a twelve-year relationship with him...
Flowers sued George Stephanopoulos, James Carville, and others in 1999 for defamation...In 2003, a federal judge further approved appeal.[7] The appeal was revived in 2002, but rejected by the Ninth Circuit in 2004.[8]

Dolly Kyle Browning alleged that she and Clinton engaged in a long sexual affair between the years of 1959 and 1992.

Marsha Scott announced, "I was Bill's girlfriend from our hippie days."

Connie Hamzy
published a memoir in 1995 under the title Rock Groupie: The Intimate Adventures of "Sweet Connie" from Little Rock; According to Clinton, Hamzy had approached him in a hotel lobby, flipped down her bikini top, and asked him, "What do you think of these?

Only information on these comes from being named on RW blogs: Betty Dalton, Denise Reeder, Kathy Bradshaw, Sandra Allen James, Carolyn Moffett.

No relationship with Clinton so why are their names on the list?

Julie Hiatt-Steele, problem with ken starr, not Clinton.
Kathy Ferguson, suicide after failed relationship with Arkansas state trooper Bill Shelton.

N.O.W. trashed Letterman for what they saw as unacceptable behaviour in the workplace. That's their judgment call. I don't necessarily agree with it because all were consenting adults and it appears only one affair took place when he was involved with, but not married to his future wife. However, these women bear their own responsibility for taking up with him, and that includes the decision to have a child without benefit of marriage.

The only pro athlete whose private life I keep up with is my sweetie Troy. :)
If you think I have any regard for women who want to hook up with a rich athlete in order to be a baby mama and cash in, you'd be mistaken. Then again, because I don't follow athletes' private lives, I don't know if N.O.W. did or didn't criticize the women. Give me a few names and I'll check it out.
