Trump says he wants to help the US auto industry but then puts a 25% tariff or more on parts they need to buy to build autos in the US from other countries and only puts 15% tariffs on completely build autos from Japan , making them cheaper then US built autos.
If he want to help them at least make autos from Japan more expensive not cheaper.

And then add in his 50% tariffs on Aluminum and steel .
That will drive up their cost to manufacture US made autos too.
