British, French, and Danish troops who have recently arrived to serve in NATO Battlegroup Estonia began joint drills with Estonian forces this weekend.

The ongoing Bold Dragon war games, involving foreign soldiers and members of Estonia’s 1st Infantry Brigade, are being held at the country's central military training area.

Their aim is to provide the newly-arrived Western European servicemen with their first opportunity to get acquainted with the Estonian terrain and improve cooperation with their local counterparts.

On Saturday and Sunday, the participants of the drill practiced both assault and defensive maneuvers, according to a statement by the 1st Infantry Brigade. Some 2,000 Estonian troops are taking part in the war games, which will culminate in a battalion-level tactical exercise on Wednesday and Thursday, it added.

It's looking like the donkeys are in charge then.

war games on Russia border while a NATO proxy war is going on against Russia? What could go wrong? :palm:

I wonder if NATO invaded Russia and started bombing their Towns and Cities, killing their People, if Russia would be upset?

You'd never know, Jerk. You'd be an unpleasant mist before it got into the papers.

Seriously, moon, what did you expect?

The Baltic states are concerned they are likely to be next on Putin's list if he gets away with this one. They belonged to the Russian Empire, too.

What would hold him back? Only one thing: they are members of NATO.

And how would you feel about London being incinerated because of a Russian incursion upon a Baltic state ?

You think Putin would resort to strategic nuclear war if his "incursions" were opposed?

Better let him have everything he wants then, eh? The Baltics, maybe Finland (that would put him one up on Stalin who never managed to grab it), Poland of course - all former tsarist possessions.

Would that be enough to satisfy him, do you think?

Then China could threaten nuclear war if Xi doesn't get what he wants. Better let him have Taiwan, which after all is part of historical China. And reunify Korea under Supreme Ruler Kim Jong-un. The possibilities are endless ...

where do you get off on Russia going after a NATO state? It's preposterous.
Look at what NATO weapons are doing in the hands of Ukrainians -and you seriously think Russia would go after any NATO territory?? activating Article 5?? delusional

Among approximately 20 bodies shown in the photos and videos, some appear to be obviously staged.
For example, one body photographed on April 3 had its hands tied behind with a snow-white shred —impossible if the body had lain there for four days. Moreover, all the bodies were shown from angles from which the faces could not be seen.

There are claims that they could be identified on satellite photos made as early as March 11. This is hard to believe, given the Russian and Ukrainian tradition to bury dead persons quickly and natural decomposition happening to bodies remaining exposed.

In post#6 I said: "What would hold him back? Only one thing: they are members of NATO."

That's what the NATO reinforcements are about - and Putin brought it on himself.

moon replied: "And how would you feel about London being incinerated because of a Russian incursion upon a Baltic state?"

To be clear: moon said that; I didn't.

OK but
NATO doesnt need "reinforcements" Russia was never a threat to NATO. NATO expansion is a threat to Russia
Putin went after Ukraine because it was a defacto NATO state on his border with a hostile government in Kyiv backed by NATO weaponry
That's the entire matter.

Putin has zero say in who an independent country chooses to ally with. Zero.

Nothing to see here. NATO is simply doing military 'drills'.

Must lose something in the translation from Russian to English

NATO doesnt need "reinforcements"

If NATO had stuck with the "tripwire" forces they had in the Baltics, that really would have been risking nuclear war, because they couldn't have repelled a major Russian incursion by conventional means. That's what the reinforcements are for.

Whether that's necessary depends on whether the Baltic states are under any kind of threat from Russia. Until two months ago few people thought there was a real threat. Now their governments evidently think that there is - or at least they are not going to gamble on it. Would you?

Added:
I just looked this up. The last time the Baltic states were taken over by Russia, in 1940, an estimated 130,000 citizens were deported. These included the presidents of Latvia and Estonia, who later died in Siberia.

are you prepared to see London glassed over because of some demented NATO club member pushing Russia too far ?

The only way nuclear war could be triggered would be if some "demented" Russian dictator invaded a NATO member - say, one or more of the Baltics - and NATO lacked sufficient conventional forces on the ground to oppose him.

I explained in post#15 how this is being guarded against, precisely because of Putin's recent behavior. It would be more dangerous to do nothing.
