Nancy Pelosi elected minority leader

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has won election to lead Democrats in the minority, quashing a challenge from surviving conservatives, beating North Carolina's Heath Schuler 150-43. She also mended fences with the powerful Congressional Black Caucus, which sought to make sure that Rep. James Clyburn's new title as number three "assistant leader" includes a substantive portfolio.

Pelosi,70, served as minority leader from 2003 to 2007 during the Bush administration and was widely credited with operating very successfully as an opposition leader. She had powerful backing from her base in the California delegation, anchored around her San Francisco district where she won re-election this month with roughly 80 percent of the vote.

But she faced a strong challenge from moderate and conservative lawmakers alike who questioned whether returning the same leadership team that oversaw a historic landslide loss of more than 60 seats should return to power.

She'll have to go back to sitting on that broom.

For Democrats. Nancy Pelosi lead us to the greatest victory over evil since the 60's, passing universal healthcare and spending large amounts of political capitol while suffering only a relatively minor loss that we'll soon make up for. She should be given the position for life.

At every opportunity we need to play, recite, remind her of her words:

"But we have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it, away from the fog of the controversy."

We need to badger her with questions that ask her to specifically define what she meant by this statement and why she herself didn't read it, or have someone on her staff read it, before it was passed?

Has the fog passed yet Nancy?

"Universal" health care that won't cover 30 million people in 2020?
