NAACP issues travel warning in Florida: the state ‘has become hostile to Black Americ

The NAACP issued a formal travel advisory for Florida on Saturday, saying the state has become “hostile to Black Americans” under Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R) leadership.

“On a seeming quest to silence African-American voices, the Governor and the State of Florida have shown that African Americans are not welcome in the State of Florida,” the travel advisory reads.

“Due to this sustained, blatant, relentless and systemic attack on democracy and civil rights, the NAACP hereby issues a travel advisory to African Americans, and other people of color regarding the hostility towards African Americans in Florida,” the group added.

“Let me be clear — failing to teach an accurate representation of the horrors and inequalities that Black Americans have faced and continue to face is a disservice to students and a dereliction of duty to all,” NAACP President and CEO Derrick Johnson said in a statement.

But the NAACP hasn't tossed out a warning about travel to South Chicago where if you're Black you're very likely to be shot and killed, or mugged, usually by other Blacks. Could it be that the NAACP ignores Black on Black crime...?

Deflection. Is that all you can do? Florida has never been a friendly place for blacks. Now Trump and Desantis have emboldened haters.

No one black...or LGBTQI+.... is going to cancel plans to visit Florida ...in fact, this is really a "message" (read the "advisory"...) that points out that now's the perfect time to visit the Sunshine State...and even consider a move.... That's how people should...and will... respond to political stunts...

Formed in 2013, the Yancey/Mitchell County NAACP branch has around 140 members. Virtually all of them are white. The branch has organized rallies, taken busloads of protestors to large events in Asheville and Raleigh, hosted public meetings, and, on occasion, stepped into local controversies

Why don't you people ever want to talk about black on black violence? A black person is far more likely to be killed by another black person than by either a cop or a white person but you say nothing. Why do you hate black people?

Given that Chicago, with a population of 2.6 million people, has had 166 homicides so far this year, actually down from previous years (https://news.wttw.com/2023/05/01/sh...go-down-10-through-first-4-months-year-police), the “very likely” generalization is bullshit, but how can a good conservative let a teedup dog whistle go by
