Mother of "gorilla kid" dismisses matter as mere "accident".

Everyone hears gorillas are rare which is quite true of the mountain ones (about 880 left on the planet). Lowland ones like this are much less so (nobody knows but they guess 100 or so). Loads more little kids.
Mainly the bleeding hearts love to overreact to critters. You'll recall the to do over the lion a while back. They know nothing about conservation but love their WWF stickers.

The gorillas should have been shot in the other two cases as well huh?

What other two gorillas ?

I'm answering the question posed and these libs are just overreacting as they did with the lion.

The suprising thing is nobody mentions that there was no fence just a simple railing.

Good grief, how do you know everyone objecting to the killing of the gorilla is a liberal? Are you seriously saying there aren't any conservatives who are upset by this?

We have such a crazy judgmental society now. Everyone's first reaction seems to be to find someone to blame - the zoo, the mom, the gorilla, whatever.

Sometimes, bad stuff just happens. A kid gets away even though a parent is doing a decent job. It happens. The zoo 100% did the right thing not taking a risk with the kid's life.

There isn't any crime here, or bad behavior. It's just one of those sad stories.

I feel if my child had expressed an interest in entering the cage that I would be very diligent about watching them till we left the exhibit.

Children are quick but if they have given you a warning and you ignore it, then you have to accept consequences of your not paying attention. She was very fortunate her child did not pay with his life.

I get what you're saying & I don't necessarily dismiss it, but none of us were there. Almost every parent I know has had "that moment," where even though they feel like they're watching their kid every second of every day, something they don't expect happens. This is obviously very high-profile, but parents have lost their kids in malls, on the beach & had them run out into the street & stuff like that. It doesn't mean they're bad parents.

The way that gorilla was dragging that kid around and banging him against the concrete I'm in full understanding why they made the decision they did about the gorilla, but yeah. I agree. The parents should have paid particular attention after the child told them he wanted to enter that enclosure. That being said, we're looking at it with hindsight. I'm pretty sure the kid made declarations in the past that didn't end in him being dragged by a 200 pound creature through the shallow concrete water feature.

Actually it was closer to 400 pounds!

Shut up you white-hating racist. If the mother was white you'd be screaming for her head. But since she's black you defend her!!!
