And the mother IS getting a lot of criticism, as is the zoo. But this is just one of those sad things that happens, and there is not much anyone can do about it. Every parent has one of those moments in their kids lives, when it just gets away from them. The zoo made the right decision, and should be commended.

Criminal filings against Dickerson stretch over a decade and include burglary, firearms offences, drug trafficking, criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and kidnap.

This was not a racial incident as some want to claim. It was a really piss poor parenting incident and that has no racial boundaries.

What I don't get about this is why people are more upset the Gorilla was killed and the kid saved. It is easy to Monday morning quarterback this, but those on the scene and in the moment had to make a split second decision and I applaud them for putting a human's life over that of an animal. People that put the Gorillas life over that of the child are heartless.

I have a criminal background from youthful indiscretions and you're right, it is damn hard to get a job or a license for many jobs. Thankfully most construction bosses don't care as long as I can do the work well. Good on you for hiring ex-cons. I presume you mean ex-cons.

I called him Itinerant Bob. I presume you know why?
There is nothing negative about an itinerant nor is criminality related to itinerant behavior and furthermore nothing about an itinerant lifestyle invokes,involves or implies criminality.
In fact research itinerant preacher or itinerant ministries.
All itinerant indicates is that one travels.

Everyone hears gorillas are rare which is quite true of the mountain ones (about 880 left on the planet). Lowland ones like this are much less so (nobody knows but they guess 100k or so). Loads more little kids.
Mainly the bleeding hearts love to overreact to critters. You'll recall the to do over the lion a while back. They know nothing about conservation but love their WWF stickers.
