I think the approval ratings he does get are from those who just don't want to admit a mistake, or cede anything to the left.

I think that too, and for a good percentage even worse. They want him to suck. That's the agenda. They voted for him because he is a dolt, abrasive unqualified ass, not in spite of it.
The middle finger vote is getting exactly what they voted for. This is fulfillment and they will reorder the goods.
