Morgan Stanley Research forecasts the global economy will expand at an annual rate of 2.9% in 2025 (2.5% 4Q/4Q) and 2.8% in 2026, down from 3.3% (3.5% 4Q/4Q) in 2024. After growing 2.8% in 2024 (2.5% 4Q/4Q), U.S. economic growth is likely to slow to 1.5% (1% 4Q/4Q) this year and 1% in 2026”

President Donald Trump predicted that GDP could expand as much as 9% a year, compared with Congressional Budget Office projections for an average of 1.8% growth each year for the next decade. Professional forecasters don't expect the economy to grow faster than 2.2% a year any time soon.
