U.S. Economy at a Glance​


~ Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased at an annual rate of 3.8 percent in the second quarter of 2025 (April, May, and June), according to the third estimate released by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis.

~Personal income increased $95.7 billion (0.4 percent at a monthly rate) in August, according to estimates released today by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis. Disposable personal income (DPI)—personal income less personal current taxes—increased $86.1 billion (0.4 percent) and personal consumption expenditures (PCE) increased $129.2 billion (0.6 percent). Personal outlays—the sum of PCE, personal interest payments, and personal current transfer payments—increased $132.9 billion in August. Personal saving was $1.06 trillion in August and the personal saving rate—personal saving as a percentage of disposable personal income—was 4.6 percent.



Summary:


Real gross domestic product (GDP) increased in 48 states in the second quarter of 2025. The percent change at an annual rate in real GDP was 3.8 percent nationally, with state-level changes ranging from a 7.3 percent increase in North Dakota to a 1.1 percent decline in Arkansas.

Personal income increased in all 50 states and the District of Columbia in the second quarter of 2025. The percent change at an annual rate in current-dollar personal income was 5.5 percent nationally, with state-level changes ranging from a 10.4 percent increase in Kansas to a 0.9 percent increase in Arkansas.
