Viruses and bacteria can and do infect anyone regardless of sexual orientation. It is also not a sexually transmitted infection. Instead, it is spread through close contact, as previously described. Anyone can get monkeypox, including heterosexual people, women, transgender and nonbinary people, and others.

  • Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
