No it isn't, worse, much worse

And I've been thru this umpteen times, you don't have to ban guns, just make access to guns a whole lot more difficult

the ONLY way it's preventable is to ban guns, then send the military in to every state, county, city, and home to retrieve all guns. good luck.
 
If everyone at that concert was armed with a fully automatic AK-47 the shooter wouldn't have gotten off more than a few rounds.

That guy had 23 guns, thousands of rounds of ammunition and tripod mounts set up by the windows in his room, yet nobody noticed anything.
