Texas Doctor: ma’am, I’m sorry to inform you your fetus will not live to term. If you continue with the pregnancy you will unlikely to ever have another baby, and your life will be in serious jeopardy.

Texas Woman: crying and in tears, ok, I reluctantly agree to an abortion, my younger children need me.

Texas Doctor: Sorry, we won’t do that, The Government says they will put me in prison for life if I did.

This is a real case in Texas today!

Why didn't the doctor recommend some places in states that allow abortion instead? She could easily fly to one, get the procedure, and return home.

Recommending someone leave Texas to accomplish something that is a crime in Texas, is a crime in Texas.

Leaving Texas to accomplish something in another state that is a crime in Texas is also a crime in Texas.

Also, maybe she is too poor for that, or not healthy enough to travel.

She has been to the ER 3 times hemorrhaging.

Utter bullshit. Texas laws apply to Texas. If you live in a blue county in Texas (alcohol sales prohibited), and you go to another state or even county and buy liquor, you haven't committed a crime. The same is true for abortion. What you wrote is an outright lie.

Also, maybe she is too poor for that, or not healthy enough to travel.

A combination of trivial objection fallacy and moving the goalposts. Maybe she's too poor to afford an abortion locally where she lives even if it were available. She certainly can afford to see a doctor by your original premise / example. How far is not healthy enough to travel? Is 20 miles too far? Is an hour on an airplane too much?

She has been to the ER 3 times hemorrhaging.

More moving the goal posts. That wasn't in your original scenario. Also, if this is the third time, don't you find that more disturbing than her needing an abortion? Is her doctor a quack? Sounds to me like the problem is not the need for an abortion, but the need for competent medical care.

Texas Supreme Court pauses ruling that allowed pregnant woman to have an abortion

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Supreme Court on Friday night put on hold a judge's ruling that approved an abortion for a pregnant woman whose fetus has a fatal diagnosis, throwing into limbo an unprecedented challenge to one of the most restrictive bans in the U.S.

The order by the all-Republican court came more than 30 hours after Kate Cox, a 31-year-old mother of two from the Dallas area, received a temporary restraining order from a lower court judge that prevents Texas from enforcing the state's ban in her case.

The attorney general of Texas sent letters to the hospitals that have been treating her threatening to prosecute anyone who provided her abortion services

This is really insane, I never thought I would live in such an America.
