Mitt Romney, John Kasich say allegations make Roy Moore 'unfit for office'​

As the fallout continues over allegations that Roy Moore groped, kissed and pursued teenage girls when he was in his 30s, two Republicans have outright denounced his candidacy.

Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney said Friday that he believed the account of Leigh Corfman, who told to the Washington Post that Moore engaged in sexual touching with her when she was 14 and he was in his 30s in the late 1970s.

"Moore is unfit for office and should step aside," Romney tweeted.

Innocent until proven guilty is for criminal convictions, not elections. I believe Leigh Corfman. Her account is too serious to ignore. Moore is unfit for office and should step aside.

Joining him in his denouncement of Moore was Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who said the GOP "must not support him."

I've long opposed Roy Moore & his divisive viewpoints. The actions described make him unfit for office. The GOP must not support him. He should step aside.

Their reactions are notable since they have outright called for Moore to drop out of the race for the Senate seat once occupied by Attorney General Jeff Sessions. President Trump and Senate Republicans have said that Moore should drop out of the race if the allegations are true.

I don't know if you personally did, though recollection is you did some, but Romney is the person Democrats/liberals called racist, very sexist, very mean (the high school thing) and cruel (the dog thing). How does someone go from being that bad to a class act?

Now I happen to agree with him completely. Roy Moore needs to step down yesterday and how there are people in the Republican Party who still support him is mind boggling.

Edit: I didn't mean that as a personal attack more trying to understand someone who can be all those negative things can still be a class act

I dont want Moore to drop out, and it might be better if he wins. This guy is hung around Republicans necks... the lose if he wins and lose if he wins.
 
dating underage is not "pedophilia" -it'sa minors violation if there was sex,if not it's not even that.

However this is a new twist, and I think he should be called on to resign. But there is no way to make that happen

32 year olds don't need to be dating 14 years old and having sexual contact with them. Throw in he claims not to be able to remember? Come on now

I do not necessarily believe the allegations- in fact given the history with the Trump accusers coming in at the last minute and then fading away after the election looks more logical.

The remembering thing is odd - unless he went on so many dates.
I would certainly remember dating anyone that young as it would be an anomaly.

I have to go with preponderance of the evidence, but not beyond reasonable doubt.

What I have read, including from the WSJ, this has all been verified and then we hear from Moore himself that he dated teenagers but just conveniently doesn't remember this one?

I grew up with a GOP that said character matters. (and by that I don't mean someone being perfect because no one is perfect other than God nor do I mean people not having faults because Lord knows I have more than most). And character isn't dating and having sexual contact with a 14 year old when you are 32. And winning elections and having character aren't mutually exclusive

That's because the GOP we grew-up with was a conservative party. Now, it is becoming the party of Steve Bannon, IHA, CFM, and PraiseKek.
