Roman has a history of making misleading and unsubstantiated claims about voter fraud.[4][5] On Election Day in 2020, he posted baseless and deceptive claims of voter fraud.[6] He delivered the list of false electors for Michigan and Wisconsin to US Representative Mike Kelly who provided them to US Senator Ron Johnson. Staff of Ron Johnson tried to get these lists to Vice President Mike Pence before the count of the electoral votes on January 6, 2021.[7]
 
On September 12, 2022, the New York Times reported that agents of the U.S. Justice Department seized Roman’s cell phone in conjunction with 40 subpoenas issued in the investigation of the false electors. [1] CNN reported in June 2023 that Roman had entered into a proffer agreement with the Smith special counsel investigation.[8]

Former Trump campaign official cooperating with special counsel in 2020 election interference probe

Former Donald Trump campaign official Mike Roman is cooperating with prosecutors from special counsel Jack Smith’s team in the ongoing criminal probe related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

One of the sources said that the agreement, known as a proffer agreement, means that Roman may not have to appear before the grand jury but could instead speak to prosecutors in a more informal setting. Under such an agreement, prosecutors generally agree not to use those statements against them in future criminal proceedings.

Roman, who received a grand jury subpoena months ago and had his phone seized, was involved in efforts to put forward slates of fake Trump electors following the 2020 election.

Investigators have recently zeroed in on the efforts to put forward alternate slates of electors in seven states Trump lost and the role of lawyers who were working for the former president after the 2020 election, multiple sources have said.

A former Trump 2020 campaign official is working with Justice Department prosecutors as part of their investigation into the former president’s efforts to overturn the result of the last presidential election.

Michael Roman, the Trump re-election campaign’s director of Election Day operations, has entered into a proffer agreement with prosecutors in special counsel Jack Smith’s office, CNN reported, meaning he may provide testimony in exchange for immunity.

Though Roman was subpoenaed months ago and had his phone seized, he is expected to be able to avoid testifying before a federal grand jury as part of the agreement.

In the wake of Trump’s 2020 loss, Roman joined an effort to put forward slates of pro-Trump “fake electors” to reject President-elect Joe Biden’s victories in key swing states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan and Nevada.

Gary Michael Brown, Roman’s deputy who was also involved in the effort, appeared before the grand jury last week.

Agreed, but as long as he does the right thing, that's the most important thing now. Repentance is a good thing. Doing right in the first place is best, but we can't change the past, only the present.
