Media insulating Obama from Benghazigate

According to Dixie...

When SOME media outles spent seconds mentioning the names of soldiers just killed in Iraq it was a conspiracy against the right. That ALL media outlets will not spend hours every day talking about 4 casualties 7 weeks later is a conspiracy against the right.

Blaming the media makes you look like a weak crybaby. The reason the media is not all over the situation in Bengazi is because there is no scandal, its being facricated by the likes of you.

Yes.... Let's pretend the president didn't lie for 2 weeks telling us it was about a video! Let's pretend they didn't know what was happening while they watched the shit on livestream! Let's pretend that Obama gave the order to secure the people in the consulate and we don't know why the order wasn't followed! Let's pretend that Obama has been completely forthright with information and has answered the questions regarding this matter!

Someone needs to call "delay of game" here and demand we get some answers NOW! Not after the election!

Let's pretend that you really want to get to the facts and aren't just trying to use this as a big stick to influence the voting!! I know what most people would think.

Dixie asked 'Where did my country go?'
Which America do you think he was referring to? Liberal America? 1960s America? Or Dixie's America?
Well, one thing I know it wasn't Nazi Germany America. Nor have any of the straw men you built so "carefully" appeared anywhere but in your post.

If I asked you to descibe your America it would differ from Dixie's, it would differ from BAC's America, it would be YOUR America. My comments concerned the America that Dixie likes to think he inhabits. Hence those comments.
I really should not have to explain to a reasonaby intelligent man.
Again, it didn't take much to decipher what you wrote, explanations were unnecessary, the value of the post hasn't changed one iota. Regardless of how different Americas may be described by different people, none of them would include Nazi Germany or Hitler as a leader. I would bring up Godwin's law, but maybe it would "go over your head"...

Seriously, if this is the level of discourse you call "debate" I wonder how you can possibly make it through life without bumping into walls where you think doors should be.

(Please note, I answer in the exact tone your original post came to us... I personally believe that you can do better than calling up visions of Hitler and pretending people say stuff that they haven't.)

Funny not many of you thought the media was doing anything wrong when they helped Bush march to war on a pile of fucking lies

War makes good news and they make money. Even liberal outlets like war, hence the coverup for more war activity currently. Do we hear about the large amount of "collateral damage" we get from Obama's Drone War? Occasionally we'll get a piece on page eleventy-threeve, somebody will bring it here and we'll all talk about it, but Normal American out there isn't getting much information on it, are they?

This (Benghazi) seems to be a case where they are actively helping somebody cover a turd the cat dropped on the floor. They are picking it up, putting it in the catbox and trying to cover it and pretending it happened the way it was supposed to...

Here is what you CAN do...PROVE that the anti-Islamic film had nothing to do with the attack.

But here is your problem...you CAN'T.

Rice, the State Dept and the White House were going on the best available 'intel' at the time. And any logical and intelligent person would highly suspect that the protests they were seeing in Cairo OVER THE FILM, that preceded the Benghazi attacks and the protests OVER THE FILM that occurred in over 20 countries were related and fueled by the same cause.

SO, let's pretend we live in a vacuum Dixie. And the rest of the world is conspiring against Fox 'news'

Protesters shout slogans during a demonstration near the US embassy in Amman against a film
they claim was insulting to Prophet Mohammad.

CAIRO — Angry protests over an anti-Islam film spread across the Muslim world Friday, with demonstrators scaling the walls of US embassies in Tunisia and Sudan and torching part of a German embassy. Amid the turmoil, Islamic militants waving black banners and shouting “God is great” stormed an international peacekeepers base in Egypt’s Sinai and battled troops, wounding four Colombians. …

The day of protests, which spread to around 20 countries, started small and mostly peacefully in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The most violent demonstrations took place in the Middle East. In many places, only a few hundred took to the streets, mostly ultraconservative Islamists — but the mood was often furious.

Jordanian protesters burn a US flag in front of the Kurdi Mosque near the USA embassy in Amman.

The demonstrators came out after weekly Friday Muslim prayers, where many clerics in their mosque sermons urged congregations to defend their faith, denouncing the obscure movie produced in the United States that denigrated the Prophet Muhammad. It was a dramatic expansion of protests that began earlier this week and saw assaults on the US embassies in Egypt and Yemen and the storming of the US Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Several thousand battled with Tunisian security forces outside the US Embassy in Tunis. Protesters rained down stones on police firing volleys of tear gas and shooting into the air. Some protesters scaled the embassy wall and stood on top of it, planting the Islamist flag that has become a symbol of the wave of protests: A black banner with the Islamic profession of faith, “There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet.”

Police chased them off the wall and took the flag down. Two protesters were killed and 29 people were wounded, including police.

The heaviest violence came in Sudan, where a prominent sheik on state radio urged protesters to march on the German Embassy to protest alleged anti-Muslim graffiti on mosques in Berlin and then to the US Embassy to protest the film.

“America has long been an enemy to Islam and to Sudan,” Sheik Mohammed Jizouly said.

Soon after, several hundred Sudanese stormed into the German Embassy, setting part of an embassy building aflame along with trash bins and a parked car. Protesters danced and celebrated around the burning barrels as palls of black smoke billowed into the sky until police firing tear gas drove them out of the compound. Some then began to demonstrate outside the neighboring British Embassy, shouting slogans.

Several thousand then moved on the American Embassy, on the capital’s outskirts. They tried to storm the mission, clashing with Sudanese police, who opened fire on some who tried to scale the compound’s wall. It was not clear whether any protesters made it into the embassy grounds.

Egypt's Morsi said his TV address that "it is required by our religion to protect our guests and their homes and places of work," he said.

He called the killing of the American ambassador in Libya unacceptable in Islam. "To God, attacking a person is bigger than an attack on the Kaaba," he said, referring to Islam's holiest site in Mecca.

His speech came after President Obama spoke with Morsi by telephone. The Obama administration has been angered by Morsi's slow response to the attack Tuesday night on the US Embassy in Cairo. He made little more than vague statements about it for days without an outright condemnation of the breach, in which police did nothing to stop protesters from climbing the embassy walls.

His silence reflected the heavy pressure that Morsi, a longtime figure from the Muslim Brotherhood, faces from Egypt's powerful ultraconservative Islamists. They are using the film issue to boost their own political prominence while challenging Morsi's religious credentials.

Leaders of Egypt's Jihad group, a former militant organization, held a conference in the Egyptian city of Alexandria and said anyone involved in "defamation" of the prophet should be killed. They called on Morsi to cut relations with US

"I appeal to President Mohammed Morsi to cut our relations with those monkeys and pigs," said Rifaei Taha, a leading member of the group.

Several hundred people, mainly ultraconservatives, protested in Cairo's Tahrir Square after weekly Muslim Friday prayers and tore up an American flag, waving the Islamist flag. A firebrand ultraconservative Salafi cleric blasted the film in his sermon in Tahrir, saying Muslims must defend Islam and its prophet.

I drew a hyperbolic comparison. Many posts here adopt the same tactic.
I compared Dixie and the extreme right wing to Hitler. The right wing are racist to a man: Hitler was racist.
The right wing think they are above discussion and criticism: Hitler thought he was above discussion and criticism.
The right wing blame others for their own failings: Hitler blamed the jews for Germany's failings.
The right wing consider lies told by their leaders and representatives to be permissable: Hitler built his existence on lies.
The right wing cannot conceive of any right wing idea being wrong: Hitler could not imagine being wrong.

I am aware of Godwin's law and I am aware that it is used by all shades on a forum such as this. However because the law stated what it did does not mean that all references to extremism are wrong. I might have used Genghis Khan, or Joe Stalin, or Mao, or Pol Pot - all of whom, like the extreme right in America, had a somewhat skewed view of relationships, blame and subsequent violence.
What did one of your stupid leaders say? Reload? Sums it all up, doesn't it?

Mitt himself had that chance and chose not to do it.

This issue is a load of bullshit and the ONLY reason its still alive is that its an ongoing investigation that ties into info that is still to pressiant for the admin to make public.

People this is why big time republicans stomped on Robmoney when he tried to make hey about it for an election.

Act like adults and accept that you cant USE eveything in the world in a poltical manner.

The right sure seemed to understand that during Bush.

Bush hid behind the democratic willingness to NOT pursue items in this area.

He depended on them to hide his lies.

Now you wont even back down on this ONE time you are asked to put country over politics.

When this is all sussed out it will look just like fast abnd furious.

A sad story made into what it was not by poltical hacks trying to make political points on the back of half truths and flat out lies.

Love how the Dems want to sweep this matter under the rug, its laughable. The press doesnt want to touch it, and they probably, deep down, thanked God for Hurricane Sandy so they could move on to anything else at all to cover and snuff any Romney momentum.

MSNBC had 'Breaking news' yesterday that Romney was against FEMA and wanted to destroy it.....but yet, they didnt want to touch the 9/11 Benghazi story, and the search for answers..its such a joke.

The problem is, we still have a week for people to get back to the economy...and back to Romney gaining. If the storm came 3 days before the election, it may have helped Obama, but he peeked too early. Back to business, back to terrible economic numbers, unemployment,$4 a gallon gas, and more BenGhazi details & memos emerging.

God willing, Obama is out of a job Tuesday night

WHY didn't Mitten confront President Obama over the attack in Libya in the foreign policy debate??? As a matter of fact the FIRST question went to Romney and moderator Bob Schieffer asked him:

BOB SCHIEFFER: The first question, and it concerns Libya, the controversy over what happened there continues. Four Americans are dead, including an American ambassador. Questions remain. What happened? What caused it? Was it spontaneous?

Was it an intelligence failure? Was it a policy failure? Was there an attempt to mislead people about what really happened?

Governor Romney, you said this was an example of an American policy in the Middle East that is unraveling before our very eyes. I'd like to hear each of you give your thoughts on that.

Governor Romney, you won the toss. You go first.

MITT ROMNEY: Thank you, Bob, and thank you for agreeing to moderate this debate this evening. Thank you to Lynn University for welcoming us here, and Mr. President, it's good to be with you again. We were together at a humorous event a little earlier, and it's nice to maybe be funny this time not on purpose. We'll see what happens. (Laughter.)

This is obviously an area of great concern to the entire world and to America in particular, which is to see a — a complete change in the — the — the structure and the — the environment in the Middle East. With the Arab Spring came a great deal of hope that there would be a change towards more moderation and opportunity for greater participation on the part of women and — and public life and in economic life in the Middle East.

But instead we've seen in nation after nation a number of disturbing events. Of course, we see in Syria 30,000 civilians having been killed by the military there. We see in — in — in Libya an attack apparently by — well, I think we know now by terrorists of some kind against — against our people there, four people dead. Our hearts and minds go to them. Mali has been taken over, the northern part of Mali, by al-Qaida-type individuals. We have in — in Egypt a Muslim Brotherhood president.

And so what we're seeing is a — a — a pretty dramatic reversal in the kind of hopes we had for that region. Of course, the greatest threat of all is Iran, four years closer to a nuclear weapon. And — and we're going to have to recognize that we have to do as the president has done. I congratulate him on — on taking out Osama bin Laden and going after the leadership in al-Qaida. But we can't kill our way out of this mess.

We're — we're going to have to put in place a very comprehensive and robust strategy to help the — the world of Islam and — and other parts of the world reject this radical violent extremism which is — it's really not on the run. It's certainly not hiding. This is a group that is now involved in 10 or 12 countries, and it presents an enormous threat to our friends, to the world, to America long term, and we must have a comprehensive strategy to help reject this kind of extremism.

Bfoon: Here is what you CAN do...PROVE that the anti-Islamic film had nothing to do with the attack.

But here is your problem...you CAN'T.

EYEWITNESS ACCOUNTS!

TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — It began around nightfall on Sept. 11 with around 150 bearded gunmen, some wearing the Afghan-style tunics favored by Islamic militants, sealing off the streets leading to the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. They set up roadblocks with pick-up trucks mounted with heavy machine guns, according to witnesses.

The trucks bore the logo of Ansar al-Shariah, a powerful local group of Islamist militants who worked with the municipal government to manage security in Benghazi, the main city in eastern Libya and birthplace of the uprising last year that ousted Moammar Gadhafi after a 42-year dictatorship.

There was no sign of a spontaneous protest against an American-made movie denigrating Islam's Prophet Muhammad. But a lawyer passing by the scene said he saw the militants gathering around 20 youths from nearby to chant against the film. Within an hour or so, the assault began, guns blazing as the militants blasted into the compound.

MORE DAMNING INFO!

The Obama administration was warned. They received an embassy cable June 25 expressing concern over rising Islamic extremism in Benghazi, noting the black flag of al-Qaida "has been spotted several times flying over government buildings and training facilities." The Obama administration removed a well-armed, 16-member security detail from Libya in August, The Wall Street Journal reported last month, replacing it with a couple of locals. Mr. Stevens sent a cable Aug. 2 requesting 11 additional body guards, noting "Host nation security support is lacking and cannot be depended on," reports Peter Ferrara at Forbes.com. But these requests were denied, officials testified before the House Oversight Committee earlier this month.

Based on documents released by the committee, on the day of the attack the Pentagon dispatched a drone with a video camera so everyone in Washington could see what was happening in real time. The drone documented no crowds protesting any video. But around 4 p.m. Washington received an email from the Benghazi mission saying it was under a military-style attack. The White House, the Pentagon, the State Department and the CIA were able to watch the live video feed. An email sent later that day reported "Ansar al-Sharia claims responsibility for Benghazi attack."

Not only did the White House do nothing, there are now reports that a counterterrorism team ready to launch a rescue mission was ordered to stand down.

=============================================================

They weren't going on the best intel at the time, they had drones showing them in real time that the consulate was under attack by heavily-armed and well-trained militia style forces, NOT PROTESTERS! If their personal "INTEL" was such that it led them to believe this was a spontaneous protest, then it serves as the most profound point that they LACK INTELLIGENCE and all need to be booted out of office for incompetence.
