McCain campaign sold unwiped Blackberries

Its would be a gas if someone actually left some text or voice messages on one. I cant believe any of them would not be that stupid though.

But to leave all the contacts numbers on this is pretty damned stupid in itsself.

It looks like most were deleted, but not reformatted and cleansed so that data is recoverable. People would have to look for the information and know a bit about what they are doing. Most of those probably sold to people who just want to use them, not stalk whomever owned it beforehand.

You would have to know it was one of theirs. Are they advertising them as "former McCain staffer's Blackberry"? Seriously. I doubt this is as much of an issue as people are trying to make it into.

The news guys probably had to use computer forensics to bring up the data they got, and they could only "get their hands on" two of them when they even knew what they were.

The reality is most of the people who buy them are just people who want a blackberry, they aren't going to know whose it was, or ever attempt to retrieve the data of the previous owner. The vast majority of these went to the ether and will stay there.

They were too cheap to let the staffers keep the crackberries?

I mean how much do you get for a used crackberry?
Aren't they worse than new cars on initial depreciation?
