A Baltimore city police officer has been found not guilty of manslaughter in the shooting death of a man in January 2008 in the parking lot of a shopping center.

Officer Thomas Sanders was found not guilty by a jury shortly after 5 p.m. on Friday.

The jury received the case Friday afternoon, shortly after closing arguments were heard in the case. The decision wasn't easy, according to jury notes. One note proclaimed that the group was deadlocked 10-2, and another claimed they were deadlocked at 11-1.

Prosecutors tried to say that Sanders shot Edward Hunt, 27, in the back while he was running away from the officer, but the jury decided that his actions were consistent with police training.

"It was hard on two families -- the Hunt family and my family. We continue to pray for the Hunt family. You never want anyone's life to be gone. I don't know if I'll ever be the same again," Sanders told 11 News exclusively after court let out.
so apparently the people of maryland accept and approve of cops murdering unarmed men in the back. The killer even has the gall to say he may never be the same again, while getting his head together to rejoin the force. :barf:
