What is it with American women singers? They don't seem to have any respect and will just pimp themselves out to the highest bidder.

With a fortune estimated at some £300million, Mariah Carey could probably have afforded to take New Year’s Eve off. Then again, it seems there were a million more reasons not to. The singer is rumoured to have been paid almost £1million to perform at a private celebration in London for the son of the Sultan of Brunei.

Yes, how dare she when Elton John and Rod Stewart also two poor artists who have barely sold a record between the two of them can command the same price for the same kind of private appearances, how dare Mariah Carey think, as a woman, she deserves equal pay with men. The horror and the travesty!

Probably not--she is probably using all kinds of dodges and loopholes just like the rest of the 1%! Just because she is a woman doesn't mean she is stupid! But I can see how a man such as yourself would suppose that she would be too stupid to avail herself of the beauty of the tax code!

????...I don't know.....I know at least one woman stupid enough to think the 1% avoid paying taxes even though they pay 30% of all taxes.......I guess you're one of those folks who think April 15 marks the day the government sends you money......

Did Cheney paid only $1.7 million in taxes on $13 million in income in one of the years during his tenure as vice president. He clearly understood the beauty of the tax code!

Did he pay her lavishly ? Why yes he did. And as I recall that was when her career was floundering and it kept the people who relied on her for a living going. Have these guys made hay from these apprearences (lots of entertainers do this) ? No.
Money for singing... its what they do ox. Face it.

You seem to be totally missing the point, fuck the money. It is the fact that she appears to have no awareness of who these people are, she sang for Ghaddafi's son and now the Sultan of Brunei's son. I simply ask is there any despot that she won't sing for, Mugabe or Kim Jong-un perhaps?
