Mandate UPHELD!

Like I previously said.... It is not a punishment but a tax if you dont buy health care.

So, they ruled that it is a tax.

Oddly enough CNN says it was struck down...

LMAO> the use of the Commecre Clause as a "non tax" suddenly becomes a tax. The premise that it wasn't a tax, suddenly becomes a tax.
Welcome to Orweillian speak. words have no meaning. the 10th has no meaning. Federalism is dead.

They are reporting Roberts was the swing vote...

I bet Obama is regretting that he voted against Roberts now!

Yeah, I realize that. I'm just pointing out that CNN is wrong... Is this like a Dewey moment? (It just changed).

No, it was confusing to the media. They rejected the ability to use a penalty/extension of the commerce clause, upheld that it could be a tax.

Basically, OBAMA RAISED TAXES!!! ;)

I am watching cspan, video of the anti-ACA at the Supreme Court.... They are pissed!

Quote from the opinion...

"Our precedent demonstrates that Congress had the power to impose the exaction in Section 5000A under the taxing power, and that Section 5000A need not be read to do more than impose a tax. This is sufficient to sustain it. "

That's two major votes in which Roberts has shown his respect for legal precedent. Though unquestionably a conservative jurist I think that this ends the argument that he's a conservative judicial activist like Scalia.

I admit I was wrong about Roberts, I disagree with much of his conservatism, but respect his ability to follow proceident.
