Page Six first reported Thursday night that the future Harvard undergrad—she’s taking a gap year before beginning college this fall—will begin work with Weinstein “sometime in the future.” The Hollywood Reporter followed with news that Malia “is expected to begin work in the New York office of The Weinstein Co. in February,” shortly after her family’s Palm Springs jaunt.

Despite her age, Malia already has a fair amount of experience in the entertainment industry: she spent some of the summer of 2015 assisting crew members on the set of HBO’s Girls, and reportedly had a similar gig on the set of Halle Berry’s sci-fi drama Extant the previous year (where she “fetched coffee and got no special treatment,” at least according to the Daily Mail).

Clearly, there’ll be a lot more for her to learn at the Weinstein Company: Harvey Weinstein is a notorious mover and shaker in Hollywood, a comeback kid whose producing prowess and reputation for waging fierce Oscar campaigns has inspired admiration, envy, and every other emotion on the spectrum. His former assistant Leslye Headland, now a successful screenwriter and director in her own right, wrote a scathing 2008 play based in part on her experience working for Weinstein, called Assistance.

I wonder if Malia will be writing any plays about her internship under Humpin' Harvey?

Obama 'disgusted' by Harvey Weinstein claims, following daughter Malia's internship​

Barack Obama has said that he and his wife Michelle Obama are "disgusted" by the recent claims of sexual assault and harassment surrounding Harvey Weinstein. In a statement, the father-of-two said: "Michelle and I have been disgusted by the recent reports about Harvey Weinstein. Any man who demeans and degrades women in such fashion needs to be condemned and held accountable, regardless of wealth or status."

He continued: "We should celebrate the courage of women who have come forward to tell these painful stories. And we all need to build a culture – including by empowering our girls and teaching our boys decency and respect – so we can make such behavior less prevalent in the future."

As reported earlier this year, Barack and Michelle’s eldest daughter, 19-year-old Malia, interned at the New York office of The Weinstein Company in January.

The statement follows condemnation of the film producer by fellow DEMOCRAT Hillary Clinton. She too said she was "shocked and appalled by the revelations", adding: "The behavior described by women coming forward cannot be tolerated. Their courage and the support of others is critical in helping to stop this kind of behavior."

Angelina Jolie and Gwyneth Paltrow are the latest actresses to allege they were victims of sexual harassment by Hollywood producer. In an email to the New York Times, Angelina said: "I had a bad experience with Harvey Weinstein, and as a result, chose never to work with him again and warn others when they did. This behavior towards women in any field, any country is unacceptable."

Malia Obama, 19, landed an internship at the Weinstein Company right after her dad left office earlier this year.

Her internship has come under new scrutiny in the wake of a New York Times investigation that revealed Weinstein paid off at least eight women who accused him of sexual harassment, which often included unwanted touching or promises that he would help further their careers.

For example, Frank Rich, an executive producer for Veep and a New York writer, tweeted about how Weinstein's transgressions were not a secret.

"Biggest mystery of @nytimes Weinstein story: How exemplary parents like Obamas let their daughter work there. The stories were out there," Rich wrote on Twitter.

The Obama family has its own history with the producer. Weinstein gave to Barack Obama's campaign and in November 2013 his first lady thanked Weinstein at a career event.

"This is possible because of Harvey. He is a wonderful human being, a good friend and just a powerhouse," she said at the time.

The office for Barack and Michelle Obama did not return emailed requests for comment about Malia Obama's internship.

'An internship from hell' is what Malia Obama is probably telling herself after her brief gig with disgraced media mogul Harvey Weinstein.

Almost half of Hollywood female leading actresses have come forward to reveal that they were either harassed or sexually assaulted by Weinstein.

The influential businessman, who could make and break careers, often disrobed and took showers in front of the female celebrities.

He was also known for touching, groping, and kissing a long list of actresses without their permission.

The daughter of Barack and Michelle Obama was an employee of Weinstein for several months and might be subpoenaed for a deposition by the attorneys handling a class action suit being filed against Weinstein.

According to the lawyers, Malia will be called for a deposition because she might have seen or heard something that can help them build their case against the fallen businessman.

19-year-old Malia Obama will be subpoenaed for a deposition to find out if she saw or heard anything regarding Weinstein’s alleged sexual assaults during her internship at the production company.

The attorneys said, “we will talk to Malia ahead of future depositions,” and will cook up a strategy around the information that she gives them.
