Richard "Dick" Winters, of Band of Brothers fame died on January 2, 2010. His taking of a German Artillery Unit has been taught to officers at West Point for years. He was a great and humble man, who when asked by his granddaughter if he was a hero in the war, said "No, but I served with heroes." RIP Maj. Winters. Currahee! and AIRBORNE!

The man was one of the greater leaders in our military history, and the men he led were amongst our greatest heroes.

Sad thing is it took an HBO mini series to make them known to the general populace.

RIP Major. And God Bless you for what you did for our nation, and the world.

Fuck you you worthless, never done anything or contributed shit to the world, piece of shit.
Don't feed the trolls.

Besides, justice IS sweet. Major Winters lived a long, peaceful life after the war, which is what he wished for. While marconium brain "Mr. Fetus's" hero, Hitler, died 65 years ago of his own chickenshit hands while hiding in a deep hole.

You are right, but Dick Winters is a hero of mine. I knew who he was before HBO made Band of Brothers. I had read the book and then read everything about him I could get my hands on. He was a man of incredible humility. He refuse to take credit for the acts of courage carried out by him and even openly opposed the attempt to elevate his medal to a Medal of Honor. When I hear the word hero, he is what I think of. We have cheapened the word, attributing to people that play sports for a living. Dick Winters was a great human being. I feel like a member of my family has died.

My hubby was airborne, my wishes to his family, another good one gone. I will have to ask my West Point grads if they ever had him as a teacher, there are four of them! Brother in law, two nephews and a niece who is a cheerleader!

You picked one hell of a man for your personal hero. He was definitely a hero's hero, as well as a superior human being in all aspects of his life. I had the incredible honor of meeting the man and shaking his hand at a banquet held at a WWII memorial. A soft spoken man, but even at 71, a voice that automatically commanded respect.

West Point is not the only place his tactics on assaulting a fixed position are taught. The Marine Corps teaches it to all officers, and in our NCO schools.

And nothing any brain dead infantile attention whore can say will lessen that.

It's too bad I couldn't kill him my self. That would bring a smile to my face for days, to watch another human being beg for their life as I laugh at them, and end theirs. To take sadistic pleasure in the suffering of other human beings is the only thing that makes me happy, like all conservative anti-humans.

My unit's flag is at half-staff for the Major. In fact, someone told me he made a visit out here not to long ago, so we may have a photo and a signature stashed around here somewhere.
