I truly believe that if they try to push for it in reality, it will hurt their chances in 2010 and beyond.
I know more Ds who are 2nd Amendment nuts than I do Rs who are Gun Registration and Revocation nuts.
You don't have to be "insane" to understand that this is just another essential freedom that they mean for us to give up for security.

The lines are kind of drawn on the gun vote. Anyone who is very passionate about owning them & believes there is a "slippery slope" related to gun legislation, and who has this at the top of their agenda for elections, is likely not voting Democrat, anyway.

it will do no such thing. A gang banger is NOT going to register his weapon, therefore no trace is going to help. I repeat, registration only leads to confiscation. It is a historical fact.
Not only that, but legislation that requires that will instantly make about 10 million criminals.
