LOL- obama's hypocrisy leaves gibbs stumped

So it bums you out to see the federal law enforced, but you don't care if it's broken. So is it OK for the federal government to sue Arizona for enforcing the federal law?

Technically, it's enforcing a law to throw someone in jail for years based on minimal possession of marijuana, but I don't agree with that either.

There are methods of enforcement that I simply don't agree with; they aren't consistent with the kind of country I'd like to live in. I absolutely disagree with the way AZ has chosen to handle this issue.

All sanctuary cities aren't illegal. Georgia and Tennessee prohibit them. The woman's question wasn't technically accurate.

That aside, how does it make Gibbs a hypocrite? He stated he didn't know an answer and would check it out. That, to me, is being honest. And by extension, how does it make Obama a hypocrite?

My understanding (and I'm agreeable to being corrected) is that cities can designate themselves "sanctuaries" and that the state has to pass a law prohibiting them.

it directly contradicts federal law, the question was accurate and the hypocrisy is clear

Arizona's law bums me out, but I believe pretty strongly in states rights.

I guess that's an opinion. What are you looking for me to say? It just doesn't fire me up like some other issues out there. Do you get fired up about every topic?

what about it bums you out?

(hehehe, he's gonna say it's racist! because he has not even read the law and thus, all he can do is repeat the strawman argument.)

Have I got you figured out?

To me, it's kind of antithesis to how this country came into being. It's also a little too police state for my philosophy.

There are more positive, win-win solutions for the issue, imo.

oops, should read a little further.

Well, I was close.

It's too police state? LOL that's funny. Tinfoil hat anyone?
LOL

Perhaps we're overlooking the humanitarian factor.

Just saying....:dunno:

I can't pay my rent, but if I rob a bank I'll be able to.

I really need to pay my rent and have food, so, according to your logic, we should weight my needs against any crime I commit or laws that I break.

(the last part was for the nitpick law/crime crowd)

What a perfect analogy.

Courts frequently weigh the circumstances of a crime. That's why there are discrepancies/leeway in sentencing.

WTF are you talking about? Arizona's law does no more than the law Feds already impose. You said it bums you out? Why?

Obama has already had his hand spanked by the Federal Court in the deep drilling issue. He's having it spanked now by the State of Arizona. Can you imagine that?...the silliness of actually enforcing CURRENT US IMMIGRATION LAWS!
