Republican former Rep. Liz Cheney on Sunday tied the “dangerous” House GOP chaos to former President Donald Trump’s behavior and the Republicans supporting him.

“I wish that it were surprising. You know, what we’ve seen is a result of really the leadership decisions that Kevin McCarthy made back after the 2020 election and certainly after January 6. And, you know, looking the other way in the face of the kind of assault on our democracy that we’ve seen from Donald Trump and his allies in the House,” Cheney told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.”...

...Cheney, who was one of Trump’s strongest critics in Congress, said Sunday she has also “been watching the extent to which political violence and the threats of violence have now reared their head once again. Those have become part of our politics in a way that certainly they never should.”

Several Republicans who opposed Jordan’s House speakership bid said they experienced angry calls, menacing messages and even death threats since casting their votes.

“Now, that kind of acceptance of violence is completely inappropriate and dangerous in our politics. So, I – we need people who are serious and who recognize and understand the dangers that we’re facing globally, as well as from Donald Trump and those who support him,” she said.

Trump, Cheney added, “is the single most dangerous threat we face” as a nation.

“He cannot be the next president. If he is, all of the things that he attempted to do but was stopped from doing by responsible people around him at the Department of Justice, at the White House Counsel’s office, he will do. There will be no guardrails and everyone has been warned.”

America will be well along the way of being burned to the ground before the next elections, and power has been almost completely removed from the people, there are elections, but they barely matter.

I'm in the same boat but it was after the 2012 election that I left the Republican Party. It was dying of a thousand cuts, but Trump finally killed it after the 2018 Midterms.

Without a doubt...Trump IS the single most dangerous threat our Republic faces.

I know that is hard for the far right to deal with...but it is so.

Yeah...Trump is a greater threat to everyone than is a nuclear war...mostly because the chances of a nuclear war are miniscule compared with the chances of Trump doing the kinds of things he failed to do in his first administration.

I agree with none of her policies in the House, just as I didn't with her father (who should be in hell right now if not for an organ donation)

She illustrated just how much power trump has over the inbreds in this nation, as she lost a seat that has the name Cheney carved in it. All for telling the truth. Or at least making an honest attempt to get at the truth while 40% of the nation cheered the obstruction of same.


I believe we might see her challenge trump next year once he locks up the nomination.

trump openly admits that every corner of the govt. would be run by his incompetent lackeys if he were to get elected.

Look what his Obama envy did just w/respect to Covid. He fired a half dozen scientists who were in China for exactly the reason we needed them there. To help avoid another pandemic.

I don't believe we want to see the reaches he would go to in order to rename the nation with his own.

It's typical of political extremists to disagree 100% with the opposition. Agreed her father needed a heart transplant since his was shrunken and black.

The Republican Party had been dying of a thousand cuts ever since Newt and the Contract with America. Trump killed it in the 2018 Midterms the same way he killed off Liz's reelection chances.

Disagreed Trump will lock up the nomination. During yesterday's interview she refused to rule out a Presidential run herself.
