Why was Trump ahead?

As the left keeps filing charges on Trump these numbers will only go up, not down.

The left are energizing the base for Trump and we all know that turnout wins elections.

He has to win the vote. The Repubs are a smaller party and have not expanded their base. They are on the wrong side of the environment, abortion and sexual repression. Of course, Trump likes rape and grabbing women by the pussy but that is a positive in Repub politics He has a string of felonies that he cannot escape. Trump can win the nomination because he owns the Repub party. He took it over with no resistance in 2016.
Quit with polls. A year and a half from the election, they mean nothing.

Republicans comprise 47% of the registered voters right now, democrats have 46%, these numbers have only gone up or down for decades by a few points either way.

The rest are independents.

Elections are all about turnout, whoever get's their base to vote more wins.

It's really as simple as that.

This is why the democrats are in a tough spot this election, Biden has lower approval ratings then Trump did at this time in his presidency and Harris is the most unpopular VP in the history of the US.

The republican base also sees these charges as the weaponization of the Biden departments just to go after Trump meaning they are fired up.

Democrats on the other hand think that justice is working so they will be less likely to turn out to vote for Biden since what they wanted, in their mind, is already happening.

If Trump is convicted of anything it will even further rally his base.

Still, there is a year left before the election so who knows what will happen between then.

And don't forget the Biden bribery scandal still being investigated.

If anything comes from that then Biden is toast.

Here's the thing:

Trump's base is NOT enough to win in 2024...the 2020 election proved that.

Running Biden is a bad move by the Dems, but that's what you get when you accept a corrupt (on both sides) two party system. Still, I don't believe the electoral college will put an indicted or convicted person in the White House (bad for international press & credibility). So they'll prop up Uncle Joe for another 4 years .... I hope so, because having Harris step in as President is just as scary as Trump to a degree.
