Of course they are banning religious parties if they want handouts from the secular masters of the world(The global bankers). They've been applying all kinds of pressure to Libya, using international courts as intimidation tactics to get them to bow to their will. The fact that they want to charge Misrata rebels with war crimes is preposterous.

The fact of the mater is that this world is fueled by Secular global creditors. And Egypt and Libya both need secular elite handouts to govern.

"This is not democracy," said Mohammed Gaira, spokesman for the Freedom and Development party founded by the Muslim Brotherhood earlier this year.
"We don't understand this law … It could mean nothing, or it could mean that none of us can participate in the election," he added. "We are a nationalist party and Islam is our religion. This law is unacceptable and only suits liberals."

It's a pointless attempt, religion will just find it's way in via the back door, just like in America. the only way to keep religion out of government is to shoot all the priests, and not deal with any nation that has not done the same.

Normally I'd be opposed to such a move. Europe has several Christian parties that play a healthy, active role in politics. But Islam is an entirely different animal. Without such a law, Islam will force its ecclesiastical code onto everyone. This ultimately leads to barbarism such as public stonings, chopping off someone's hands if they steal, etc. It also inevitably leads to horrendous oppression of women.

while i am not a fan of islam, why are they not uniting into a coherent political party and advocating sharia law here

Well their constitution (the last one I read) was based on Sharia law. It was pretty well laid out, lots of guarantees for ALL citizens, regardless of gender, sexual preference, or religion.

Just like how the Soviet constitution guaranteed freedom of religion and the press. Didn't exactly work out that way, though.

This is a very heavily researched opinion. The entire population of the earth is controlled by a monopoly of creditors. You play their way? You get money. You don't? Well ask Saddam. Ask Fidel, Ask Chavez, ask Iran.

Its very easy when the global elites can make money out of thin air and finance their puppet's campaigns. And where there is no democracy? They finance coups and dictators to do their dirty work.
