Mega MAGA
Tariffs DO. NOT. INCREASE. RETAIL. COSTS. FOR. USA. CONSUMERS.
Repeat it as many times as necessary until it sinks in.
LINKED RIGHT HERE is the Producer Price Index for August 2025.
Of course, financial "experts" are currently saying how "unexpected" it was that the August 2025 PPI went DOWN 0.1% instead of up 0.3% (because OMGzzzz tariffs cause price increases rahhhhhh!!!!!!). So here is YET ANOTHER hard data point that clearly shows that tariffs DO. NOT. INCREASE. RETAIL. COSTS. FOR. USA. CONSUMERS.
It just plain doesn't happen. It hasn't happened historically (whether distant or recent history) and it isn't happening right now either. Even numerous leftist fake news sources are now admitting that "businesses ate the bulk of Trump’s tariff costs, teeing up the Federal Reserve to slash interest rates next week." and "the calmer wholesale reading signaled that companies have been absorbing the tariffs in an effort to hold onto wary customers."
Now comes the WHY part... WHY is this happening in a manner that soooooo manyyyyyy peopleeeeee simply "can't comprehend"?
There are plenty of foreign countries who are DEPENDENT UPON exports to the USA, and they will fight to retain access to the "#1 in the world" USA consumer market. If that means "eating the tariff cost" (via reducing their production costs and/or receiving government subsidies to stay afloat), then they will do whatever is necessary to retain access, including footing some/all the cost of tariffs. This is a big reason why the added tariff cost often doesn't even make it past the raw manufacturer, let alone the importer (who pays it to the government), let alone the wholesaler, let alone the retailer, let alone the consumer.
