Okay, forget Virginia... Hell, forget New Jersey! Republicans are poised to oust the Democrats from the seat of TED KENNEDY? Is this a dream? I mean, who would have thought this could even happen a year ago?

Talk about the Democrat Party being on the ropes? They are THROUGH the ropes, on the floor, writhing in pain and agony! What the hell are they going to do now? If a place like Massachusetts, with the full backing of the DNC and the Kennedy clan, one of the most historically coveted seats in the history of modern liberalism, can't be guaranteed for the D's, what place is safe???
 
I'll believe it when I see it. I don't care what the polls say I'd be shocked if this goes to a Republican.

Unless something dramatic happens, I'm betting Coakley still wins by close to 10 pts.

If not, then you're right - you & yours can start planning your next unjustified war, because you'll be back in power in no time.
 
Not likely. A seat vacated by a person in one party is always given to a person of the same party until the next election. Thats the way its always been done. No bets on the next election though.

Well, I don't want to jump the gun and predict Republicans will win, but just the fact that it's a race... that it's even close... says volumes about the shape your party is in. Just think about it from a purely pragmatic political strategy standpoint, the DNC is having to expend all kinds of resources in Massachusetts as opposed to the traditional battleground states. This is money that would have normally gone to bolster someone in a close race elsewhere, but it is having to be spent in MASSA-frickin-CHUSETTS!

No, Dems do start wars, even unjustified ones. It's just that Republicans have a much more recent history of unjustified wars, and the current crop is more of the "shoot first, ask questions later" variety.

Yeah, not kidding... I'm still believing the 9% poll, at least until I see the numbers... I just can't see getting my hopes up. Although if I lived there I'd be JAZZED to go vote.
