Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on international affairs, mocks the US president for threatening Iran with famine, saying Donald Trump's recent rhetoric shows his ignorance of political economy.

In a message posted on his X network on Sunday, Velayati said Trump was unaware of the world's economic and political situation, adding that his "Hollywood-inspired shows and clowning" could not hide the harsh reality of geopolitics.

According to him, Trump's ignorance was exposed when he threatened Iran with famine, despite the fact that the international food security and chain supply of chemical fertilizers depend on the Islamic Republic's maneuvering in the Strait of Hormuz.

He also referred to the declining US power, explaining that the withdrawal of troops from Germany, the weakening of the Western military alliance, NATO, and the frequent technical malfunctioning of American warships, indicate a disconnection between the illusions at the White House and the reality on the ground.

Velayati directly addressed Trump, reminding him about the consequences of a naval blockade on Iran, taunting him that international politics is not the location of the Hollywood movie “Jack Sparrow,” fictionally depicting the pirates of the Caribbean, but anyone who plays with vital arteries of Iran will find himself in a dead end.

Trump's war: skyrocketing diesel prices hit American farmers already facing historic drought

Diesel prices have increased by about 48% since the start of the war — a backbreaker for U.S. farmers facing the most widespread spring drought on record.

The drought couldn’t come at a worse time for farmers. Conflict in Iran and the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz have choked off a significant percentage of the world’s crude oil supply, sending prices soaring for fuel, fertilizer and plastics. And those price hikes are now hitting American farmers.

According to AAA, the national average price for a gallon of diesel is $5.64, roughly a 48% increase since Feb. 28, when the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran.
