The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Maryland, charges that Walden intentionally stretched out the process of completing a capstone project, requiring students to re-enroll for semesters on end, paying tuition all the while, while they waited for approval from a three-member committee. As a result, the suit estimates, the school overcharged students by more than $28.5 million.

I do a lot of different types of advising on hiring, so from a tech point of view, having most for-profit diplomas are worse than having nothing at all. They are seen as red flags. It is far better to just go to a community college. They are cheaper, and give much better educations.

This person was working on a doctorate.

OUCH!!! (I actually feel real pain from that one) I would strongly recommend against getting a doctorate from a for-profit, unless you will spend the rest of your career in a very large bureaucracy. Some large bureaucracies do not care where the doctorate is from, as long as the school was accredited. The rest of the world is going to really question why someone got a doctorate from a for-profit.

Agree. Yet, she is suing the school.
