124 Palestinians made homeless by Israeli demolitions in 1 day

BETHLEHEM (Ma’an) — Multiple demolitions in the occupied West Bank left 124 Palestinians homeless in a single day, 60 of them children, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) said in a statement Friday.
A total of 54 structures — including 18 donor-funded structures — were demolished on Thursday in nine different communities located in Area C, the over 60 percent of the West Bank under full Israeli military control.

According to UN figures, Israeli authorities have demolished 539 structures in the occupied Palestinian territory’s Area C since the beginning of 2016, compared to a total of 453 in 2015.
So far in 2016, 805 people have been displaced as a result of the demolitions, while 580 had been left homeless for all of 2015.
Thursdays wave of demolitions adding to the record-high number of Palestinians displaced comes as the Palestinian Authority is expected to present a draft resolution condemning Israeli settlements to the UN Security Council in two weeks.
The resolution will be the first to directly condemn Israeli settlements as illegal under international law since the United States vetoed a similar resolution in 2011.
Despite repeated condemnations by the international community, Israel has come under little actual pressure to halt its settlement program, land seizures, or the forced displacement of Palestinian communities.

There will be many informed Americans who are proud of this. There will be many informed Americans who feel ashamed. This thread is for those who simply don't know about it.

O-BOMB-YA's military minions have just announced that they have sent B-52s to bomb the Middle East.

More "collateral damage" incoming. :palm:

If we keep on bombing the Middle East, cosying up to tyrants and ignoring Israeli crimes- then certain elements might decide to strike back, maybe by blowing up some buildings in New York. Oh, wait.........

Hey fuckwit, can you explain the 1993 attack on the World Trade Centre?

Hey fuckwit, can you explain the 1993 attack on the World Trade Centre?

:palm: A 2-second online search could have told anyone but a complete thicko the answer:

Law-enforcement officials said yesterday that the suspects in the World Trade Center bombing mailed a letter around the time of the attack claiming responsibility and attributing the action to deep resentment against United States policy in the Middle East.

The officials said they had determined late last week that the letter from a group calling itself the Liberation Army Fifth Battalion was authentic and that it provided the first insight into what might have prompted the attack. A Warning

The letter, mailed to The New York Times and turned over to the authorities, warned of additional actions against American civilian and military targets, including what they described as "Nuclear targets." Such attacks, they said, would be forthcoming unless the United States met a series of demands, including an end to diplomatic relations with Israel and an end to interfering "with any of the Middle East countries interior affairs."

The claims and threats were contained in a letter that described deep resentment over United States policies in the Middle East and said that Americans themselves were responsible. 'People Must Know'

"The American people must know, that their civilians who got killed are not better than those who are getting killed by the American weapons and support," said the letter, which was written in occasionally faulty English.

"The American people are responsible for the actions of their government and they must question all of the crimes that their government is committing against other people," it continued. "Or they -- Americans -- will be the targets of our operations that could diminish them."

The letter was delivered to The Times four days after the bombing of the World Trade Center. It was turned over to the New York City Police Department's Chief of Detectives, Joseph R. Borrelli, who immediately passed it on to a Federal and city task force that is investigating the terrorist attack. The task force was meeting in Mr. Borrelli's office when he received the letter. Found to Be 'Authentic'

Investigators determined that the letter was "authentic" and that it had been prepared by one of the five men now in custody, law-enforcement officials said yesterday. But the officials declined to say precisely how the determination had been made, saying that it could compromise the investigation. They also would not say which of the suspects is believed to have written the document.

The investigators could have reached their conclusions through analysis of the handwritten return address on the envelope, a comparison of the printed text with typewriters or computer printers found in searches of suspects' homes or from comments made by one or more of the suspects. Copies of the letter might also have been found during the searches. A senior investigator said that none of the five arrested suspects had provided information about the others in the group.

"There is no question that the letter was prepared by a member of this cell," a senior investigator said, referring to the five suspects.

The evidence tying the suspect to the letter is "incontrovertible and it's not speculation," the investigator said. "It's the kind of evidence admissible in court."

Another New York City newspaper, which was not identified by investigators, apparently also received a letter from the group.

In the one-page letter, the group said the bombing of the lower Manhattan complex was a response to "the American political, economical and military support to Israel the state of terrorism and to the rest of the dictator countries in the region."

The letter, with a garbled return address in Arabic, demanded that the United States stop "all military, economical and political aids to Israel"; that it end diplomatic relations with Israel, and that it refrain from interference "with any of the Middle East countries interior affairs."

The Feb. 26 bombing, which killed 6 people and injured more than 1,000, has been investigated round the clock by hundreds of Federal and local investigators. Last week, Egyptian authorities turned over to United States officials Mahmud Abohalima, 33, whom investigators have portrayed as a prime suspect in the case.

Government officials in Washington said they had not previously heard of the Liberation Army Fifth Battalion. A private database maintained by the Rand Corporation, a business research group in Santa Monica, Calif., showed no previous indication of the group nor that a group by that name had ever claimed responsibility for a terrorist attack.

In the month since the bombing, the authorities have been able to follow an almost amateur's trail of clues -- telephone calls, a joint bank account, common addresses -- to arrest a small circle of five Middle Eastern immigrants, who all profess their innocence. A sixth suspect is still being sought. But while investigators believe they have found the core group of the conspiracy, until now they had not found any suggestion of the group's thinking or anything tying it directly to Middle Eastern politics. Anger Is Shown

The letter from the Fifth Battalion Liberation Army, however, clearly links the bombing of the World Trade Center to anger over the United States' support of Israel. Setting out the group's rationale for the explosion, the letter argued that "the terrorism that Israel practices (Which is supported by America) must be faced by a similar one."

It said United States citizens should question the "crimes" their Government is committing against others.

The letter said that the Liberation Army has "more than 150 suicidal soldiers ready to go ahead." It warned that if the group's demands were not met, it "will continue to execute our missions against military and civilian targets" in the United States and abroad. It specifically mentioned "some potential Nuclear targets."

The document also warned the United States to stop supporting secular Arab nations in the Middle East, which it described as "the rest of the dictator countries in the region."

It was unclear whether the writer of the letter was responding to any specific events in Israel or other Middle East countries, or any particular policies. But the overall thrust of the document indicated deep concern over the economic and military aid that the United States provides to Israel and its longstanding role as Israel's sponsor.

The United States also provides almost an equal amount of annual aid to Egypt, whose secular authorities are opposed vehemently by fundamentalist Islamic groups with which the bombing suspects have been associated. Similar Roots

Two of the suspects arrested and charged in connection with the bombing, Mohammed A. Salameh, 25, and Nidal A. Ayyad, also 25, came from Palestinian families displaced during the 1967 Arab-Israeli war. Mr. Salameh often spoke so passionately and angrily about Israeli policies and the fate of Palestine that a roommate asked him to move from their Jersey City apartment. The roommate, Ashraf Moneeb, said that to force Mr. Salameh to move he falsely told him he was getting married and needed the room.

Another suspect, Bilall Alkaisi, 27, left several addresses with United States immigration officials, claiming to be either from Lebanon or Jordan. The fourth suspect, Mr. Abohalima, was born in a mill town outside Alexandria, Egypt, and the fifth, Ibrahim A. Elgabrowny, 42, was born in Port Said, Egypt. All have said they are innocent of the bombing.

Many of the suspects were also fervent supporters of El Sayyid A. Nosair, who was tried for the assassination of Rabbi Meir Kahane, whose anti-Arab stance was so extreme that his Kach party was banned in Israel as racist. They showed up at Mr. Nosair's trial and have visited him at Attica state prison. Mr. Nosair was acquitted of the murder, but he is serving a maximum of 22 years on assault and weapons-possession convictions stemming from a second shooting just outside the midtown hotel where Mr. Kahane was slain.

Explain your support, little charmer, for US maintenance of a racist , ethnic cleansing foreign government.

Settlers should be declared to be enemy combatants and be deprived of human rights. The Palestinians should be allowed to do with them as they wish.

It is easy enough, Israel whilst not perfect is a paragon of virtue compared to the loony tunes surrounding it.

Tell us when the Palestinians attacked Israel and killed 1,500 civilians, including 500 children. Israel did that over Christmas , 2008/9
The Israelis have killed two-and-a half THOUSAND Palestinian CHILDREN since September 2000. Explain how this equates to ' a paragon of virtue '.

Hamas and Hezbollah would do that and a lot worse given half a chance, as you well know. The only reason that Hezbollah are not planning another war in Lebanon is that they are otherwise engaged in Syria!!
