The easy narrative in the story would have occured if a white guy had shot Trayvon. Having the shooter be Hispanic changes things up. At least in various inner-cities and with gangs there has long been a battle between Hispanics and Blacks as in places like LA Hispanics have started moving in to historically (or should say more recently) black areas like South Central.
So black anger can still be directed at the cops and at the system for not arresting Zimmerman but the racism card is harder to play on someone who is Hispanic than white.

Because Cracker is becoming the new "gentile" it's meaning is now "non-black". Or at least that's my hypothesis.
