Kudos to Rep. Crenshaw

He's talking about addressing the problem w/ the cartels in a meaningful way. He has introduced 2 bills in Congress which will essentially declare war on the cartels, and treat them as we treat terrorists.

It's a problem we can't ignore anymore. It's our immediate neighbor, and the problem w/ fentanyl alone is killing many Americans.

Crenshaw is a great conservative - one I would support if he was in my district, or if he ran for President. We need more common sense politicians like him.

This particular issue should be non-partisan. I wish Dems & Biden could get behind his efforts - hopefully, they will.

Terrible idea. It would be an act of war against Mexico.

On the surface it sounds great because cartels are obviously a huge problem. The devil is always in the details and great sounding initiatives don’t always work well in reality.

Is there an article or anything you read that lays out what’s being proposed and possible downsides?

I'm kind of shooting from the hip, and I'm sure the whole thing is more nuanced than I can truly understand. But personally, I'm at a "we have to do SOMETHING" point. It's just insanity right now.

My understanding is that the biggest problem w/ his proposal is that we need the Mexican government to be on board, which makes a ton of sense. We can't just go into Mexico as some kind of invading force. It would have to be in conjunction w/ efforts and support from the government there.

And we don't have that. So it's a major sticking point.

The cartels are not in the US. Why do you want war with Mexico?
