Hillary Clinton’s argument is that Sanders, an old, white man from Vermont, did fine in New Hampshire, but may have a hard time appealing to African-Americans and Hispanics nationwide.


In a campaign memo last night responding to Sanders’ crushing victory in New Hampshire, Clinton’s Campaign Manager Robby Mook looked ahead to the southern states and explicitly argued that they favored Clinton.

Looks like to me Bernie is trying to find ways to pander to blacks with someone else's money.

A Democrat cannot win their primary without the black and Hispanic vote. Bernie is getting his butt kicked by Hillary in all non lily white states. He has to do something to get better support from those voters if he wants to win. Evidently he believes meeting with Sharpton will help him in that regard.

I am not defending Bernie here because he would be a disaster as President but yes he, like every other politician, panders for votes.

It would be like a Republican running and talking to no evangelical leaders. Not happening.

What makes you think white voters are being sucked up to? I thought that white privilege claim meant it wasn't necessary since white people get all they need already because they're white?

What republican candidate is running to race pimps like Reverend Al trying to find ways to pander to black voters? I can see a Democrat one.

My perspective...

Sanders speaks not for the working class, but for that ruling class/establishment layer which sees, fears and wants to contain growing social resistance.

Sharpton [ex: Ferguson] and Sanders intend to channel emerging class anger back into the Democratic Party to spend itself without harming Capitalism.

In the NH primary, 40% identified as 'independent/undeclared' and backed 'Bern' by 72%. Isn't his aim to return the disaffected into the Democratic Party?

Elected, Sanders will drop his promises just as Syriza, elected in Greece in 2015 on an anti-austerity platform, implemented even more savage austerity.

Sanders wants not 'revolution' but prevent it.
