Well, most of the time, unless there is some unforeseen catastrophic event, pipelines for oil don't leak. I don't recall ever having an oil pipeline leak in the US, do you know of one? Has there ever been one anywhere? I'm sure you did your research and can answer this, I am curious as to whether it's ever happened. You see, when the construct the darned thing, they already know it will be carrying crude oil, and raw crude is dangerous to the environment, so they take all kinds of extra precautions to insure the bolts are tight and everything is to specification. Kind of like when they send the space shuttle up, they are a little extra anal about things, because it does pose a risk. I would imagine, if a pipeline were to leak, it would probably be easier to contain and control than, say... an offshore oil rig. Just guessing, but I figure because the pipeline is on land and not under water, it would probably be easier.
I didn't really find much interest in your yahoo article, until I got to this:
But Fred Upton, the Republican chairman of the House of Representatives' Energy and Commerce Committee, said the review's parameters were not yet clear.
"By not limiting the scope of the review to just the new Nebraska segment, the entire project could become tangled in unnecessary review and red tape, and subjected to attacks and stalling tactics by opponents," Upton said in a statement.
Uh... really? Ya think, Fred? Surely not, the Democrats have been so jazzed about this from the start, where the hell have you been?
Is it any wonder Republicans are getting their brains beat in by these morons? They are more clueless than the idiots in power!
People keep conveniently forgetting that the northern end was shut down at the request of the Republican governor of Nebraska.
we all know the Democrats have no intention of letting the pipeline go ahead.....is this news?.....
apparently Legion didn't read the OP........which states the Demos are trying to reopen the "final" environmental study for the entire route.....
Apparently the US has over 200,000 miles of similar oil pipelines in place already, just saying.

...Okay... now that we've established that once in a proverbial blue moon, a pipeline does leak, what does that mean?...
If you're referring to the Keystone addition to the existing pipeline, there's no upside for us.Wow... well I guess I should have never made the statement, that oil pipelines have never leaked and can't ever leak. Oh wait... I never did make that statement.
Okay... now that we've established that once in a proverbial blue moon, a pipeline does leak, what does that mean? That we can't transport oil through pipelines anymore? Oh wait... we can't drill for oil anywhere, so why do we even need a pipeline, right? Oh well, we still have the Magic Gas Fairy who brings us gas to the pump everyday, and as long as that manages to happen through whatever miracle, we should just be content to keep fighting capitalists who want to build leaky oil pipelines all over the country, so they can ruin the environment... we don't need them as long as the Magic Gas Fairy continues to deliver!
That goes without saying. If Obama was for it, would Dixie be against it?
