FUCK THE POLICE

911 EVERY DAY
The oil spill is justice that is being wrought on Southern Mississippi and Louisiana for being evil and voting McCain in 2008. They will be utterly destroyed; it is the wrath of God being thrown at the degenerate.

Man, I'm just sickened by this. The louisiana wetlands are a national treasure, and the photos of pelicans soaked in oil is totally wrenching my tree hugger heart.

This is beyond political now, it's a total clusterf*ck, and I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

That said, I would knock the teeth out of the idiots who screeched at us tree huggers that drilling off the pristine california coast would be a most excellent adventure, and oh so totally safe and groovy.

Remove the oil spill liability cap and you'll never have anyone drilling there again. They'll be racing to abandon their current offshore drilling platforms.

Biloxi/Gulfport is going to be a ghost town by the time all of this is over with. One of only many conservative mass murders in their race to extinguish human life.

You're right. They'll go to Algeria, which has no regulations in regards to the environment, and if a rig blows up there, oh well.

They're already in Algeria.

I thought you were a libertarian? Where in libertarianism does it allow you to damage someone without paying them back for the damage you caused? Stop at the end of my nose unless you're a goddamn oil company? Is that the new matra?

I am, and that's not what I said. But being a libertarian allows me to look at things from a business angle as well (by the way, I know they're already in Algeria). Raising the cap is fine. Hell, make it half a billion. Foot them the government costs. So long as culpability can be reasonably proven. But also understand that shit happens sometimes. And the benefit of the doubt can be applied from time to time.

I'm not saying BP isn't at fault this time, or that they should get off lightly. I'm mostly playing devils advocate.

So long as Keesler is there, Biloxi and Gulfport will survive...

Their culpability should be whatever damage they cause. They should realize that, and if they want to drill near land, take insurance on the costs they would probably incur if the well ever went under. If the insurance is too costly, then so be it. They won't drill there.

There should be no liability limit. If things go badly they should absolutely be faced with having their entire company scrapped to pay for damages.

My dad works at Keesler. :)

Cool, I have good memories of that place. I still remember the safe driving brief I had to sit through during tech school orientation when they explained that the nearby highway has three of the most dangerous spots in all of MS, and I was like "fuck, its a good thing I won't be doing any driving while I'm here!!"

Now Watermark is being possessed by Pat Robertson!
