So I just realized she is not a wasp....

Does it bother any of you from the "Drill baby Drill" Party that she is not of the same religen as the founders?

If this is a "Christian Nation", is it okay to have three Jewish S.Ct. judges?
 
Seeing that no one but you has brought this up it doesn't really look like it does it? There were numerous articles in the press yesterday pointing out with her confirmation there will be 6 Catholics and 3 Jews on the court and no threads on here complaining about it.

Im just asking... I keep hearning from the Drill Baby Party that this is a "Christian" nation, I assumed some of those people might have a problem with it.

Maybe they are just staying underground because they know such an opininion would be unpopular.

Is that not part of what it means to say this is a "Christian" nation, that our leaders should be "Christian"?

Having been round these boards for some time now, experience tells me that people here aren't particularly reticent about sharing some quite "unpopular" views.
 
Jarod, you're fishing for an argument. Trying to stir up conservatives like SM and perhaps Dixie, but I doubt even Dixie would want to argue here. The real answer is that most Christians, understandably, would like for our leaders to be Christians, but they realize the futility of that. That doesn't mean that they think our founders were anything but overwhelmingly Christian, at least in the loosest sense of the term. It just means that the logical, Christian conservatives can see that the make-up of government is never going to reflect what they truly want. Most will look past whether one is Jewish, Mormon or whatever religion they claim, at the issues and the person's stances on them. Or even to the experience....as in this case. This lady definitely lacks experience and that poses a legitimate problem for some. I really don't care, she will get confirmed eventually and she replaces a pretty liberal fellow. No biggee here. But no, I don't really care whether she is Jewish or Christian.
 
This is true. To listen to many on the right, not only IS this a christian nation, but our founders INTENDED that it be such. A Jew on the court might violate their intent. But even if not their intent, it might still bother the right. We have one moron on this board that says only originalists should be on the court, but probably can't tell us the other methods for interpretation. So I can see lots of righties being upset that another Jew is on the Court. Hell wasn't all that long ago righties didn't want a Catholic in the Whitehouse cuz he might be takin' his marchin' orders from the pope.

And I guess I'm missing what does one's belief on our energy policy have to do with a possible Supreme Court justice being Jewish?

LOL, not me Jarod, we don't have enough Christians for that. I'm just saying that Christians in general like Christians in governmental postitions. I would assume that Jewish people prefer Jewish people be in charge. Muslims...probably the same. That is all that I am saying.

So are you a Christian? And if so, do you want All Christians in charge?

I know many Jews and many Christians who do not want All of there religen in charge, they see that a diversity of opinion is a healthy thing.

I am not a part of the "Christians in general" crowd, though I do like a representative number of Christians in government.

Okay, so I respect that. But it is you position that Christians in general would like all representatives to be Christians?

I disagree, I would say, most self described fundamentalist Christians in general would like all representatives to be Christians, but the majority are much more democratic than that!
